PROVISIONING BRANCH (ORD SEC)
The Sub Group of Technical Experts on Arms & Ammunitions constituted by MHA vide their
letter No. IV-24011/12/2011-Prov-I dated 13 Jun 2012, dated 28 Dec 2013 & 27 Jun 2013 held its
meeting at HQ NSG on 12 May 2015 to formulate the Draft revised Qualitative Requirements and
Trial Directives of 40MM MGL.
After detailed deliberations, the referred Sub Group has formulated the QRs and Trial
Directives which are as per Appx ‘A’ & ‘B’ attached. The sub Group has decided to upload the QRs
and Trial Directives on MHA as well as NSG website for asking comments/suggestions from
prospective firms to make the QRs generic & broad based.
Firms are requested to forward their comments/suggestions on the formulated QRs and
Trial Directives as per proforma given below alongwith the details (product specifications,
pectoral’s etc.) of their product meeting the referred QRs.
It is requested that comments if any on the QRs and Trial Directives may please be
forwarded to the under mentioned within 15 days i.e. latest by
Jun 2015.

Trial Methodology
(a) Firm/Vendor to provide certificate
confirming the Calibre of the weapon.
Certificate to be checked by the BOO.
(b) The BOO will also physically check
the calibre of the weapon with the help of
Tools and Gauges.
To be physically checked by the BOO.
Test firing will be carried out by using 40
x 46mm standard HE Low Velocity
ammunition. OEM to provide 200 rounds.
The BOO to check this aspect by
carrying out physically firing of six
rounds.
To be confirmed by the BOO by carrying
out test firing from the weapon. The MGL
should be able to fire not less than 20
rounds in one minute including the time
required for reloading.
