Corps Ever wondered what’s in them? e Bridg Up to 30 times a week, Stop& those loud, fast-moving Shop freight trains carry Bakken End crude, an extremely flammable and highly Begin here volatile form of oil. Bakken crude is exhere (1.5 mile tracted in North Dakota by fracking and is walk) shipped to refineries on the East coast. In 1 pm Bergen County, the River Line trains carry Bakken crude through our towns, passing schools, hospitals and ball fields, and across our Oradell Reservoir (providing drinking water to 800,000 people), putting all of us at risk! The oil and train industries say they are taking measures to keep us safe. Yet, even the newest upgraded “1232” train cars and the older “DOT 111” cars which run through Bergen County can – and do – explode like toxic bombs. That’s why people call them “bomb trains.” The Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains – a group of concerned citizens, first responders, civic groups, environmental organizations, labor unions, schools, and faith organizations – says: STOP THE BOMB TRAINS NOW! We’re calling for: • An immediate ban on transporting Bakken crude oil through our communities; • Transparency by government, oil and rail companies; • Move New Jersey toward a green, clean, renewable energy future. Join us Sunday May 17th 1:00 pm March: Assemble in Sagamore Park, Windsor Rd. and Beatrice Ave., Teaneck.
