A warm welcome to Old Elthamians Cricket Club!
On behalf of Eltham College, I wish you a very warm welcome to College Meadow. I am
delighted that we are able to strengthen our links and to develop a promising future together.
Cricket has always been the major summer sport at Eltham College with memorable players
such as Tom Pearce (Hong Kong), Leslie Gracie (Rugby captain of Scotland) and Jack Hobbs
(England). WG Grace also played on these fields and who knows how many current players
will be inspired to such greatness?
I look forward to watching many matches and seeing us both benefit from our deepened
association.

Playing cricket at OEs in 2015
It’s really simple - if no one knows your availability, you
won’t get picked! Here’s our handy three-part guide to
making sure that doesn’t happen.
1. Select the ‘Availability’ tab from the main menu of the club
website, www.oecc.hitssports.co.uk. You need to have a
username and password, and be signed in, to do this!
2. Use the drop down menus on the right to indicate your
availability for fixtures throughout the season. You can always
change your mind at a later date!
3. Leave any notes that might help your skipper, e.g. ‘depends on
how behind on revision I am’ or ‘available unless called up for the
England ODI squad.’ That kind of thing.
Job done. Let’s play.

Child Welfare at OECC
OECC operates a child welfare policy in accordance with its
credentials as an ECB Clubmark accredited club. We want all
our children and young people to enjoy their sport and feel safe.
After six years’ service as our Child Welfare Officer, Helena Daniels
has handed over responsibility to Nicola Fuller. We would like to give
both our hearfelt thanks to Helena and a warm welcome to Nicola.

Meet some of our finest cricketers!
OECC is not just about the senior teams. As well as our ever growing junior section, girls’ cricket is thriving at the club and we also run
the OE Bears, which gives cricketing opportunities to disabled juniors. The move to College Meadow has also given us the opportunity
to closen our relationships with two clubs with whom we have longstanding associations. Here are brief profiles of these four teams.
OE Sapphires
On 28 March, the OE Sapphires reunited for their first competition of 2015, a U13 indoor festival at
NW Kent College. The OEs side was not as experienced as most, and largely comprised of U11s.
Even though we failed to win a match (!), there were some good individual performances and a
positive team spirit, which we hope to build on with parent support through the season. There are
lots of U11 and U13 KCB festivals coming up and some family fun days, so do get involved.

OE Bears
OE Bears started in May 09 for ages 8-19 with a physical or learning disability. Approximately
25-28 players attend every week. Our training sessions are adapted to suit all abilities ensuring
total inclusion for all. While working on their skills the emphasis is to have fun. Matches and
tournaments takes place on a regular basis, where working as a team and good sportsmanship
is paramount. We have a good parent support network, who also enjoy coming to have a chat
while their children have fun. Congratulation and thanks to Frances Driscoll, who has been
expertly running the Bears for last 7 years.

OE Bromley Lions
Bromley Lions Cricket Cub was formed in 2010, with the ambition to create a team that utilises our local
community talent. The Lions played number of friendly matches during 2010 and in 2011, entered into British
Tamil Cricket League (btcluk.com), progressing steadily and achieving promotion to higher division. We now
have a squad of 25 players. Since 2011 Lions have been using OEs’ facilities and this year we have integrated
further, taking on the name of OE Lions. We hope our new name and venue will bring us good fortune as we

Chelsfield OE Exiles
Chelsfield OE Exiles is an Old Elthamians’ Cricket Club and a Sunday friendly side that takes
enjoyment very seriously! We play cricket in a style that is inclusive and enjoyable for players of
all abilities. Our aim for 2015 is to continue to bring juniors into senior cricket and to offer players
who are used to a Saturday League environment a change of pace and a different challenge.
There is a small fee of £3 for juniors and £6 for seniors on game days to cover the cost of the
matches. The season starts on April 26th and finishes on September 27th.
