 Call for Expressions of Interest in Hosting the Fifth
International One Health Congress, March 2018
Deadline 1 October 2015
Since 2011, three International One Health Congresses have been organized on a biennial
basis. The 1st International One Health Congress took place in Australia, the 2nd edition in
Thailand (2013), and the 3rd edition has just been held in Amsterdam (March 2015). The
Fourth International One Health Congress will again take place in Melbourne, Australia, as it will
be organized in conjunction with the 6th Biennial Congress of the International Association for
Ecology and Health (December 2016).
In order to ensure the continuity of the International One Health Congresses, the One Health
Platform, a new Foundation recently established by Prof. Ab Osterhaus and Prof. John
Mackenzie, will be responsible for organising future International One Health Congresses. More
information about the One Health Platform can be found on www.onehealthplatform.com.
The Supervisory Board of the One Health Platform has decided that the Fifth International One
Health Conference will take place in North America, South America or Africa in March 2018.
The International One Health Congresses typically attract 1.000 participants from across the
globe and last for 4 days.
The organisation of the Congress is the overall responsibility of the One Health Platform. If you
wish to express interest in hosting the Fifth International One Health Congress, please note
that as a host, you will:

oversee the local organisation (together with the Organising Committee – installed by
the Platform)
contribute to the scientific programme of the Congress (together with the Scientific
Committee – installed by the Platform)
contribute to raising funds – both internationally and locally
organise a tender and assist in the final selection of a local conference organiser
(together with the Management of the Platform)

Health Congress. Once we know who is interested, there will be a more detailed process for
determining the relative costs and advantages of potential sites.
A final decision on the venue for 2018 will be taken by the Supervisory Board in January 2016.
