2015 Luncheon Goals
 To give our sponsors and our guests an active role in our fight to end cancer.
 To fund more breakthroughs in cancer immunotherapy – treatments that use our own immune system to target
cancer cells.
 To give more time and more hope to cancer patients and their loved ones. Today’s research is tomorrow’s cure.
Noteworthy Facts about Cancer Care at Providence
 The Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently awarded
Providence Cancer Center the Clinical Trials Participation Award, recognizing Providence’s contribution to the
improvement of cancer care through clinical research in a community-based setting. Providence is one of just
eight programs in the U.S. to be chosen.
 Progress continues on the first-in-human Phase I clinical trial for an innovative cancer immunotherapy vaccine
designed to treat glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and most lethal form of brain cancer. Developed by
laboratory chief Keith Bahjat, PhD and clinical researchers Marka Crittenden, MD, PhD and Pankaj Gore, MD, the
vaccine is now in three patients, including a woman from Vancouver, Washington.
 Providence is one of eleven centers worldwide to be part of the Bristol-Myers Squibb’s international immunooncology network, inducted in 2012.
