help prevent them from becoming victims.
ENGAGING COMMUNITIES,
EMPOWERING VICTIMS
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week
April 19 - April 25, 2015
We know that in order to help victims become survivors,
we must first listen and learn in an effort to better understand what they need and how we can best serve them. By
working with community leaders and organizations, we
can leverage existing community resources to understand
the needs of underserved victims and the impact of victimization. Engaging the entire community will enable us to
reach more victims and expand their options for services.

the FBI is to protect and defend the United States

uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United
States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice
services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners.
The FBI is staffed by a dedicated cadre of 35,000
agents, analysts, and other professionals who work
around the clock and across the globe. At the same
time, it plays an essential role in protecting local
communities.

CURRENT CYBER WORLD TRENDS,

AGENDA
An estimated 725,000 children have been
“aggressively” asked for sex, defined as an offer
to meet in person. The FBI reports a 2000 percent
increase in the number of child pornography images on the internet since 1996. According to the
FBI, Chat rooms offer the advantage of immediate communication around the world and provide
the pedophile/predator with an anonymous
means of recruiting children into sexually illicit
relationships.
