ChairHoops Wheelchair MARCH Basketball Tournament 19-21 The following AdVenture Seeker programs are designed specifically for people with physical disabilities and their friends/family. To participate please pre-register by calling 208-608-7680 or visit http://parks.cityofboise.org/AdVenture ADVENTURE SEEKER PROGRAMS WINTER & SPRING 2015 Wheelchair Rugby Wheelchair Rugby is one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports! All skill and ability levels are welcome, rugby wheelchairs are available for use. A drop-in rate of $5/day is also available. This program is for participants ages 15 and older. Location: Fort Boise Community Center Wednesday Sessions: (12-2:30 p.m.) Goalball In partnership with the Boise Blaze Goalball team, the AdVenture program is offering the sport of Goalball to individuals with visual impairments. Join us to learn the rules and play some fast-paced games, you do not have to have a visual impairment to play. A drop-in rate of $4 per person per date is available once the session has started. Participants younger than 18 may enroll, but must be accompanied by an adult. Wheelchair Basketball Wheelchair basketball is a face-paced, fun competitive sport. Basketball wheelchairs will be provided for your use. This is a great opportunity to learn the rules of the game, practice your skills, and play pick-up games. This program is for participants age 15 and older. A drop-in rate of $4 cash/day is also an option. Dates: Saturdays, January 24-March 14 Time: 4:15-6:15 p.m. Location: Fort Boise Community Center Cost: $25 Activity #: 200708-01 Get fit from your chair! This adaptive fitness class will offer a variety of group and individual strength and conditioning activities. Bring your own wheelchair or use one of ours. Individuals who do not use a wheelchair are also welcome to get a great upper body workout. This class is for participants age 15 and older. Dates: Mondays, March 30-May 18 Time: 7:30-8:45 p.m. Location: Fort Boise Community Center Cost: $37 Activity #: 300780-01 Financial Scholarships Available Scholarships are available to help pay for Boise Parks & Recreation programs. Allow two weeks to process–please apply prior to registering for classes. This annual tournament is a great opportunity for basketball players of all ability levels to test their skills from a wheelchair. You do NOT have to have a disability to play, wheelchairs will be provided. Gather your friends, family or co-workers and create your team of 10 players. This tournament is a fundraiser to support the AdVenture Program which offers recreation for individuals with disabilities. The team registration fee of $150 is due by March 3, 2015; however we encourage early registration as the tournament is limited to 20 teams. All registered players will receive a ChairHoops T-shirt. Games will be played on Thursday or Friday evenings and during the day on Saturday. Teams will know their schedule prior to the tournament. For more information please call Sonya at 208-608-7680. Idaho Youth Adaptive Sports Camp This year marks the 28th anniversary of the Idaho Youth Adaptive Sports Camp! This camp provides youth with physical disabilities a memorable sports camp experience. Individuals ages 6-19 who use a wheelchair or an assisted device (walker, crutches, AFO braces, etc.) have the opportunity to develop skills, improve their fitness level and try adaptive sports. Participants will get to enjoy a variety of athletic and recreational activities such as tennis, track and field, fishing, canoeing, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and more.
