Driven by emerging scarcities of land, water, oil, nutrients, fish and extinction of the climate that gave rise to agriculture, our diet and food systems are poised to change profoundly. Urban hydroponic, aquaponic and aquaculture systems will be at the heart of the sustainable production revolution that will characterise The Age of Food. The North tour will include Nora Valley, who will have just finished a new 2 ha greenhouse by AIS Greenworks. Provisional return times for buses to both Jupiters and Gold Coast airport are 6 pm. Our Platinum Sponsors www.pca2015.org AIS Greenworks Conference International Guest Speaker Herman Eijkelboom 1) Disease Control 2) Drip irrigation 1) Some growers have a positive effect using a certain pesticide while other growers are not able to get the same level of control. The effect can depend on different factors like; time of the day, concentration, method of application and the pH of the spray. Recognising spray damage and reducing the risk thereof will be also be discussed in the conference lecture. 2) Dutch growers are tending to steer their crops to be more generative by keeping the media drier. However irregularity in the amount of water will lead to reduced production if plants do not get enough. Consistency depends on not only the technical equipment but also on the presence of clogging. Check first if the cause of clogging is organic or inorganic and then there are several options to prevent clogging of the system which will be detailed in the conference lecture. Every grower wants a fast crop rotation and a clean greenhouse to start the next crop, with less labour costs. And as greenhouses get bigger and taller, cleaning them gets more time consuming, so you need some good techniques. Sjef Smits is an internationally acclaimed greenhouse consultant who will be sharing several methods of cleaning, in combination with automation, which he has garnered across many continents. AIS Greenworks Conference Special Guest Speaker Levi Nupponen - Agroecology The Biological Revolution: Realisation of commercially viable combined aquaculture and horticulture With a career in high tech glasshouses and corporate agribusiness it became apparent to Levi that consumers, retailers, growers and investors alike all desire the development of commercially viable environmentally attuned production technologies, an example being the recent boom interest in aquaponics. The challenge is the ability to turn dreams and inspiration to commercial realities. He will share some insights based on the experience of transitioning the ideology of aquaponics into a commercially viable reality - a production system with zero effluent aquaculture and intensive organic horticultural production. Join other greenhouse & hydroponic growers who learn from the best Emily Gangell - PCA 2015 Conference Secretariat Ph: 03 8692 2038 Mob: 0488 663 476 Fax: 03 8658 9531 eg@asnevents.net.au Saskia Blanch - PCA admin@protectedcroppingaustralia.com Ph: 02 9907 6633 Mob: 0414 333 996 Speaker program details are subject to change.
