LIBRARY CONSULTANT (Permanent, Full-Time) Are you looking for a rewarding position that will make a difference in rural public library services? Peace Library System (PLS) is seeking an enthusiastic professional librarian to provide support to public libraries across northwestern Alberta. The Library Consultant will be customer-focused and able to communicate effectively with library managers in small public libraries. This position involves regular contact with libraries to help each offer the best library service possible in their communities, and includes a particular focus on continuing education for public library staff. Primary Responsibilities: Act as a central resource person for public libraries by assisting with the development of collections, programs and services, and delivering relevant training Coordinate the annual Rural Libraries Conference, Peace Library System’s premier continuing education event Manage website and social media communications for PLS, and assist member libraries with the same Produce a quarterly newsletter Essential Qualifications and Skills: M.L.I.S or equivalent from an accredited library school Public library interest and experience Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Initiative and resourcefulness to meet library needs Familiarity with library e-resources, website content management, and social media Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (vehicle provided; some overnight travel required) Experience with Drupal 6 and Microsoft Publisher would be an asset Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Acrobat Pro would be helpful School library experience would be an asset Salary Range: Peace Library System provides a competitive salary and benefits package. Peace Library System headquarters is located in the City of Grande Prairie, approximately 450 km northwest of Edmonton. With a population of over 55,000, Grande Prairie is an active, growing community with all services and amenities, situated in the beautiful Peace Country. Peace Library System serves a municipal population of 153,000 and a student population of 11,000 through a network of 45 public and 50 school libraries across northwestern Alberta.
