A world of experience House of MEISSEN® MANUFACTORY SINCE 1710 DEMONSTRATION WORKSHOPS Within the Manufactory of Meissen, near Dresden, the world of Meissen Porcelain® comes to life in the House of MEISSEN® exhibit. The human hand has remained our number one tool for centuries. Today, MEISSEN® stands for extraordinary and indeed unique craftsmanship. With great passion, the Manufactory creates exclusive products in the areas of limited artworks, architecture and interiors, as well as jewellery and accessories. The combination of our own raw materials, extracted from Europe’s smallest mine, our top-secret paint laboratory, where about 10,000 different brilliant colour shades are created, longterm in-house training and the ongoing influence of Asian and European styles all add up to the exclusive MEISSEN® look. The Demonstration Workshops invite you to experience how the famous Meissen Porcelain® takes shape before your very eyes. How are cups made? How many individual pieces are there in a typical figurine and how do the blue swords get beneath the glaze? A tour of the Demonstration Workshops provides answers to all these questions. You will witness the principal stages of the manufacturing process, these being moulding and throwing, the crafting of figurines (“repairing”) and both underglaze and overglaze decorations. Public tours with an audio guide are available in 14 different languages. Private tours with a tour guide, available in 9 languages, can be booked in advance. MUSEUM OF MEISSEN ART® SHOPPING The Museum of Meissen Art® takes you on an enticing journey through 300 years of porcelain history. Numerous pieces from 1710 to the present day, drawn from the Manufactory’s vast stocks, are displayed chronologically to illustrate design developments throughout the ages. There’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world. The House of MEISSEN® shopping area boasts the world’s largest selection of MEISSEN® products. “All Nations are Welcome” The exhibition “All Nations are Welcome” opened in 2010 as part of the Manufactory’s tercentennial celebrations.
