Dear Franklin Academy Families,
I would like to inform you of an important change in the Administrative Team at Franklin Academy. As you
know, Mr. Richard Ledgister has been serving in the capacity of Assistant Principal for the past two years.
During his tenure as an administrator, Mr. Ledgister has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our
students, staff, parents, and Franklin Academy community at large. We are proud to announce that Mr.
Ledgister has been identified as the Principal at a new charter organization in Palm Beach County and will
begin his new appointment on March 23, 2015. We wish him continued success in his new professional
endeavor and will miss him greatly.
That being said, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Diacris Cardoso, a certified and highly qualified
educator has been promoted to the position of Assistant Principal. Mrs. Cardoso holds a Bachelor of
Science Degree from Florida International University in Political Science and a Master of Science Degree
from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership. Additionally, she is certified by the Florida
Department of Education in Social Science (Grades 6-12), Elementary Education (Grades K-6), and
Educational Leadership (Grades K-12).
Mrs. Cardoso has been a member of the Franklin Academy team since it opened its doors in the fall of
2011. In the last four years, she has served in the capacity of Science and Social Studies Middle School
Teacher, Social Studies Department Chairperson, Committee Chairperson for AdvancEd Accreditation,
Interim Assistant Principal at Franklin Academy in Boynton Beach, and most recently as our K-8 Curriculum
Specialist and School-Wide Assessment Coordinator.
She is excited to join the Franklin Academy Administrative Team and looks forward to continuing her
contributions to the success of our total school program. Mrs. Cardoso may be reached at
