PAM 2015 Anthem Composition Competition The Presbyterian Association of Musicians invites composers to submit entries for its first choral anthem composition competition. Eligibility: Any composer may submit an entry, with the following exceptions: PAM Executive Board members and their immediate families. Entry Deadline: October 1, 2015 (Email time stamp or postmark) Award Notification: No later than December 31, 2015. PAM reserves the right to not make an award if no entry is deemed acceptable. Prizes: a. The composer of the winning entry will receive a cash prize of $1000. b. The winning composition will be recommended for publication by MorningStar Music Publishers in the PAM Anthem Series. Final decision on publication resides with MorningStar. c. The winning composition will be introduced at a summer PAM Worship and Music Conference. The winning composer will grant PAM permission to reproduce the work for its introduction. PAM will bear the cost of reproduction and distribution to conference participants. Jury: PAM’s ad hoc committee on anthem competitions, the 2016 Montreat Worship and Music Conference Director, and the 2016 Mo-‐Ranch/PAM Conference Director will comprise the jury. Guidelines: a. The composition will be an original, non-‐published work of a sacred nature. b. The composition may employ either original tunes and original texts, or pre-‐existing tunes and/or texts. c. If the pre-‐existing tune and/or text is/are not in the public domain, the composer must secure the copyright owner's permission for such use and submit proof of permission along with the application. Failure to submit proof of permission will disqualify the entry. d. The composition may not exceed 8 minutes in length. e. The composition should be for mixed voices up to 4 parts (may include limited divisi) and may be a cappella, or accompanied by organ or piano. The anthem may include instrumental or handbell parts. f. The composer will retain copyright of each entry. g. If the winning entry is subsequently accepted for publication by any publisher, the anthem must include the following statement under or above the title: “Winner of the 2015 Presbyterian Association of Musicians Choral Composition Competition” h. Scores will not include the composer’s name or other identifying information. Scores that include the composer’s name will be disqualified. i. Scores will not be returned to the composer. Non-‐winning scores will be destroyed at the end of the competition. j. If submitted via surface mail, the signed application form must be accompanied by 6 copies of the score. k. Entries must be time stamped or mailed and postmarked no later than October 1, 2015. l. A composer may submit up to 3 entries.
