Installation Guide OADM Overview This document provides steps necessary to correctly install and configure Canoga Perkins’ passive OADM product. The passive OADM comes in two configurations: “Drop and Continue” and “Drop and Insert.” Installation Ensure that there is no visible damage to the OADM module and that the OADM module meets the installation requirements. Refer to the Technical Specifications page. The OADM can be installed in either slot of a UCS 1001 or in a UCS 1000. Insert the OADM module in either slot of a UCS 1001 Chassis. Insert the 6702 in the other slot. See figure 1. Figure 1 Drop and continue applications Items required • 1 x Model number OADM-2001-xx03 • 1 x Model number 6702 (Remote wavelength must match the OADM’s dropped wavelength) • 1 x UCS 1001 or UCS 1000 • Singlemode fiber optic jumpers Identify the West Link Tx/Rx fiber pair and East Link Tx/Rx fiber pair. • The West Link Tx/Rx fiber pair is the composite optical signal to and from the central location or West location. • The East Link Tx/Rx fiber pair is the optical signal continuing to and coming from the East site. • Connect the OADM to the link. See Figure 2. Connection of the ports must be Tx to Rx. See Figure 3. Figure 3 The wavelength listed on the Remote Tx/Rx port of the 6702 must match the wavelength listed on the “West 1xxx” port of the OADM. See Figure 4. Figure 4 The wavelength listed on the Remote Tx/Rx port of the 6702 must match the wavelength listed on the “West 1xxx” and “East 1xxx” port of the OADM.
