You can enrol in the entire programme, or alternatively on a module by module basis. The programme is self-directed and delivered on-line over eighteen months. Who is this Programme for? Financial Adviser roles: It is of particular relevance to those providing personalised financial advice, particularly those seeking to become Authorised Financial Advisers, for whom this qualification is a regulatory requirement. Investment roles: Planners, investment/advisers, custody officers, financial services regulators, investment product managers, and business managers. Personal Risk roles (Life & Health module): senior underwriters, accounts managers, product and claims specialists, risk advisers, branch managers, domestic and senior brokers. General Insurance Risk roles (General Insurance module): senior underwriters, accounts managers, product and claims specialists, risk advisers, branch managers, domestic and senior brokers. You will gain an understanding of the wider financial services environment and researching ‘fit for purpose’ solutions. Choose one or more of the following modules. Module 2 – Financial Advice (30 NZQA credits) This module provides an understanding of the legislative and regulatory requirements of category 1 advisers, and applying the six step financial advice process to provide professional client service, compulsory for AFA status. Module 3 – Investment (NZQA 25 Credits) This module provides an understanding of investment concepts, as well as the regulatory and legislative environment in which they are required to operate. You will apply the principles of investment analysis through your knowledge of products and services to provide client focused investment solutions, compulsory for AFA status. Module 4 – Personal Risk (Life & Health) Insurance (NZQA 25 Credits) This module provides an understanding of risk management concepts and the legislative and regulatory environment associated with personal risk insurance. You will gain a broad understanding of products and services available to provide fit for purpose solutions in terms of life and health. Module 5 – General Risk Insurance (NZQA 25 Credits) This module provides an understanding of risk management concepts and the legislative and regulatory environment associated with general insurance. You will gain a broad understanding of products and services available to provide fit for purpose solutions. Module 6 – Mortgage Adviser (NZQA credits 20 credits) This module provides the knowledge and skills required to understand residential property lending concepts and the legislative and regulatory environment in which a mortgage adviser operates. You will learn the relationship between residential property lending products and individual needs, and the ability to provide fit for purpose solutions for borrowing.
