NATIONAL GREENCARE FOR TROOPS AWARENESS WEEK INFOGRAPHIC APRIL 19-25, 2015 More than 10,000 military families across the country have registered for GreenCare for Troops since 2007. U.S. military personnel are deployed in 150 countries across the world. More than 4,000 volunteer contractors have registered to provide lawn and landscape services. GreenCare for Troops has volunteers in all 50 states. Florida has the most volunteer contractors for GreenCare for Troops; Michigan has the most families and veterans receiving services. GreenCare for Troops was recognized by the White House in 2012 in conjunction with its Joining Forces initiative to serve military families. 1.4 MILLION There are 3.6 million veterans with a service-related disability needing assistance with day-to-day household and lifestyle assistance services. active-duty personnel are currently serving in the U.S. military. The average deployment lasts eight months for U.S. Navy personnel on aircraft carriers. Military families relocate 10 times more often than civilian families – on average, every 2 or 3 years.
