Our Client is a global automotive Tier 1 supplier
making car dashboard and infotainment systems. This
engagement involved working with their European
Engineering HQ – where new and existing product
designs are created, evolved and maintained.

Engineering and design based errors were
showing up in downstream manufacturing
processes and even worse, resulting in
product recalls.
ProSight Consultants worked with the
client to establish the programme of
training.
The client repeatedly reported a rapid
increase in defect capture and prevention
in the engineering HQ.
Our client recognised that it had been
over 10 years since any formal problem
solving training had been given to their
staff but that many staff believed this
unnecessary.
This involved working with a central team
of 8 experts who performed the role of a
Problem Solving Board. We helped this
board set up the process infrastructure to
support deployment and sharing of ideas.
Based on comparison to equivalent past
failure types and rates this was estimated
to be of value of >£2m in the first 6
months following deployment.
They also recognised that existing
methods and processes were no longer
fully fit for their current organisation and
that they did not have experts in house.
ProSight created a two day tailored-tothe-client version of problem solving
training and deployed this to 130 people
over 4 months.
The aim was to create internal problem
solving capability and substantially reduce
the number of downstream errors arising
and save the company millions in costs.
New processes and content were rolled
out in parallel by the client creating an
integrated change.
Feedback on the training programme was
excellent scoring 9/10 on average with
many people reporting a very high level of
engagement and subsequent usage of the
method, tools and mind-set back in their
roles.
