Stop the attack on MAINE’S DRINKING WATER! SUPPORT EPA’s Clean Water Rule to protect your drinking water sources 2 in 6 Maine Residents Drinking water is at risk for more than 55% & thousands of Maine’s streams of acres of Maine’s wetlands continue to be at risk from pollution and destruction from development, oil and gas production, and other industrial activities. Clean Water Rule BENEFITS: è Reducing flooding è Filtering pollution è Supporting hunting & fishing è Replenishing water supplies è Providing wildlife habitat In 2011, $1.4 billion was spent on wildlife recreation in Maine including $372 million on fishing, and more than 1.1 million people participated in these recreational activities. Clean water is essential for Maine’s brewing industry. Small breweries contribute nearly $327 million to our economy every year and support more than 3,400 jobs. MAINE SUPPORTS the Clean Water Rule. More than 5,000 Mainers called for a strong Clean Water Rule in 2014. The Clean Water Rule is actively supported by environmental groups including Natural Resources Council of Maine and Environment Maine Watershed Foundation, as well as by the City of Portland.
