pring has sprung, and the feeling of hope and new beginnings is certainly in the air. Here at the Ministries we
work hard to have our finger on the pulse of the community,
to truly understand the changing needs of those whom we
are called to serve. We are so blessed to have the support of
the community, our donors, volunteers,
individuals, churches and businesses
alike. With your help and support we were
able to put out 57,000 meals at Kate’s
Kitchen this last past year. The men at
Loreto House had a safe and warm roof
over their heads along with the support
they need to get on their feet long term.
Thank you for giving us hope all year
round – by doing so we can continue to
make a difference in the lives of those who
count on us every day.

foodWorks Graduation
Chef Ralph Webb is thrilled to announce the new foodWorks program has graduated its first official class! They have also passed
the Serve Safe Handler’s exam and received certificates. Over the
past ten weeks, these incredible people have been put through rigorous training. All came to us with obstacles but were able to overcome them and devote the time needed to study and graduate. Not
only did they learn necessary kitchen skills, but had classes in career development and life skills. Their teamwork, attendance, and
growth have proven the dedication they had toward achieving their
goals! Rosa, Ricardo and Taylor are now ready and excited to join
the workforce in the culinary field. We are very proud to have had
the opportunity to teach such a diverse group of students. A formal graduation ceremony will take place in June.
2014 Annual Meeting
Elaine Pluta was honored with the Sr. Agnes
Broderick Justice and Peace Award at our Annual
Meeting held on April 8th at the Delaney House
in Holyoke. Other honorees included the Church
of the Holy Trinity which received the Trustees
Service Award and Peter Brunault, Esq, who received the Bob Grenier Leadership Award. We
are very grateful for their dedication to the Ministries and the needy in our community.
Providence Ministries is hosting the 2014 Summer Solstice 5K

Closet. The Holyoke Career Closet provides interview appropriate
clothing for individuals with a scheduled interview and has
served over 100 clients in the last year. The 2014 Summer Solstice 5K Run will be held at Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke MA on

The Ministries participated in the Annual Postal Workers
Food Drive that was held on Saturday May 10th. We garnered
hundreds of pounds of food to help stock the shelves at both
the pantry and the kitchen. We’d like to thank not only all of
the letter carriers that helped to pick up the food so we can
get it to those who need it the most, but also the community
for their generosity. Last year alone we served more than
5,800 needy individuals via Margaret’s Pantry.
SPECIAL GUEST @ Kate’s Kitchen
State Senator Don Humason paid a
visit to Kate’s Kitchen on March 5th.
He visited with the staff, volunteers
and foodWorks students. Thanks for
stopping by Don, we hope you enjoyed
the fish.
