Understanding our past, changing our future
Thank You
all for the support shown for Nepal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are delighted to have Alistair Hannay, the new Head of School visit PSISD. He has been working
very hard over the weekend, conducting interviews, planning and preparing timetables as well as
working on the new staff structure for next year including the new secondary school. We hope
you enjoyed meeting Mr Hannay over the weekend and having the opportunity to ask your
questions.
We are very grateful to all parents who have supported and helped the school move forward, in its
first year of operation. We are now very excited about starting our second year of operation. We
certainly value all the input parents have made through meetings, emails and the surveys at this
time. This has really helped the school to know how we can improve and change as the school
continues to grow.
Thank you to all the students and parents who helped to support Nepal by coming in non-uniform
and donating money to go towards the earthquake disaster relief effort. You will be pleased to
hear we were able to raise a grand total of QR. 2,970.50. We will announce which charity we have
donated the money to, as soon as possible.
The IT department has sent out a letter with login details for the Discovery Learning Website. We
hope the students are enjoying using this. We will be starting to use the website as part of our
homework programme. We will expect our older students to be able to use their tablets to do this.
We are very pleased that Goalz football academy are providing football lessons to our students
from Year 1 to Year 6. We ask that all students come in their PE kits. Football boots can be used but
these must be changed into before the lesson starts. Please do not send children to school
wearing their football boots for obvious safety reasons.
Finally I would like to congratulate the Year 6 children for their fantastic assembly which
celebrated their learning about the world and space, from this term.
Construction update:
All three play areas have now been completed and will be very soon opened as the plumping
work has finally finished, The children will soon enjoy multiple games under the shade including
swings, seesaws, Merry go round, sand box, climbing areas and more on the soft rubber surface.

Year 1’s treasure chest has been stolen!!
In literacy we have been reading the story “Handa’s
Hen” following on from our last story “Handa’s Surprise”.
Through this story we have been learning the features
of a story.
We then received the devastating news that…
Year 1’s treasure chest had been stolen!
It is of great value so if you have seen it please let one of
the children of Year 1 know its whereabouts, Thank you.
The class was cordoned off so that police could gather
clues to catch the thieves
Mr Price came to speak to the children about this terrible crime and assured everyone that the police are
investigating.
The thief said we needed to use the story of Handa’s
Hen to find it. We made wanted posters and we learned
how to write a letter and sent one to the thief. We were
then able to use our investigating skills to follow clues
that would lead us to the treasure.
We had officer Mohamed visit the school to help with
the investigation.
Thankfully we were able to catch the
thief! This is the picture we captured
from the school’s CCTV cameras.
Year 1 would like to say thanks to
everyone for their help. WELL DONE!
Our new IPC topic is ”We’re Going On A Holiday”. To link with that in numeracy we are learning
about money and we have been talking about different money you see when you go on holiday.
We have a shop in Mr. Mossey’s class and travel agents in Miss Horgan’s class.
If you would like to book a holiday, you now know where to go!
We have made our own passports for our holiday!
