PHARMACEUTICAL CARE PROGRAM IN USA
Program Description
This program is an 8-Week long experiential training program in the United States with Wilkes
University School of Pharmacy. The Ugandan Pharmacists will be hosted by the Pharmacy Practice
Faculty and other Pharmacist Preceptors at their practice sites (hospitals, clinics, and community
pharmacies) where through participatory learning, they will learn about the expanded role of
pharmacists in the provision of direct patient care and advance their own clinical skills for the purpose
of improving patient health care outcomes.
Program Objectives
o To provide opportunities for the participants to work with and learn advanced knowledge and
skills in Pharmaceutical Care from Clinical Pharmacists in the United States, and
o To provide ongoing mentorship throughout the program and beyond to enable the participants
to utilize their new knowledge and skills in Uganda to improve patient health care and provide
training for pharmacy students, pharmacy interns, and pharmacists
Qualifications
1. Must be a licensed pharmacist in Uganda
2. Current employment in academia or hospital pharmacy
3. Demonstrate a strong interest in the development of clinical pharmacy in Uganda
4. A minimum of 1 year experience in teaching and/or training pharmacy interns and/or students
Must have no visa application or travel restrictions
5. Must be able to cover approximately S1000 USD of expenses (J-1- Visa, food, miscellaneous
travel expenses)
Funding for the Course
L A partial scholarship shall be provided for the training, PSU shall cover the air ticket while
Wilkes University shall provide accommodation and tuition for the training.

reviewed"

be announced no later than 4th May.

Part ll: Essay
