FAMILY HEALTH CONFERENCE:
Women & Health
Background:
Family health programmes have developed tremendously ever since the first maternal and child health clinic
was built in Malaysia. The scope has expanded to include all age groups by the life cycle approach. This
conference will provide the opportunity for stakeholders to network and share experiences to inspire
excellence and improve the value of family health care in Malaysia. It will also provide participants with the
opportunity to be part of the family health development by sharing their research findings and suggestions for
the betterment of the health of future Malaysian families. This year’s theme on Women and Health will provide
and avenue for those concerned with the health and wellness of women in Malaysia especially with the new
progress on communicable and non-communicable diseases. The role of gender issues in women’s health is
also addressed. Although the theme for this year’s conference is Women and Health, research on all areas of
family health are welcomed. Participants will also be exposed to various methods of research in health which
can assist in improving the quality of health care as well as the community.
Objectives of the conference:
 To update participants on the current issues of family health in general, and women’s health and wellness
specifically;
 To develop networking and communication between stakeholders and institutions;
 To increase the scope of research and development in the field of women’s health and wellness specifically,
and family health, generally.
