Glycerin & liquid sugar
Description
Honycol ® is a moderately transparent, colourless, ginger
and honey flavoured Linctus.
Composition
Each 5 ml Linctus contains
Glycerol
BP 0.75 ml
Liquid sugar (67.5%)
BP 1.93 ml
Also contains: liquid glucose, purified water, citric acid,
sodium benzoate and flavours
Uses
For the relief of irritating, tickling dry coughs and sore
throats. It also assists in removal of productive cough.
Dosage and administration
Adults and children over 5 years: 10-15 ml (2-3 spoonful)
three times daily or as directed by physician
Children 1 - 5 years: 5-10 ml (1- spoonful) three times
daily or as directed by physician
Children 3 months- under 1 year: 5 ml (1 spoonful) three
times daily or as directed by physician
Elderly: There is no need for dosage reduction in the elderly.
The dose may be repeated three or four times a day as required.
Pregnancy and Lactation
The safety of this product during pregnancy and lactation
has not been established, but is not considered to
constitute a hazard during these periods and used widely
without any ill consequence.
Undesirable effects
No adverse effects would be anticipated
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity or intolerance to any of the ingredients.
Precautions
Diabetics should take note of the carbohydrate contents
of this product.
Do not give to children under three months.
Interactions with Products
No clinically significant interactions known.
Overdose
Overdosage would not be expected to cause any problems
and treatment would be merely symptomatic and supportive.
Storage
Should be stored in a cool, dry place and away from light
and children.
