The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI), is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its 2015 Public Safety grant program. The Public Safety grant program targets programs that provide safety education and training programs to first responders, their families and the general public in North America. Grant requests should be between $2,500 and $20,000. We place a priority on programs that meet two or more of the following criteria: Focus on Motorola Solutions communities in and around the greater metropolitan areas of: Schaumburg, Illinois; Plantation, Florida; Columbia, Maryland; San Diego, California; Westminster, Colorado; Lawrenceville, Georgia; Seattle, Washington; Salt Lake City, Utah, New York City, NY; Tempe, Arizona; Farmers Branch & Houston, Texas; Toronto, Canada Provide professional development and training to first responders, including wellness programs Focus on safety training for the general public, including disaster preparedness and community safety education programs Provide outreach and educational programs for youth and young adults interested in entering the fields of police service, professional and volunteer fire service and emergency management and communications Support families of fallen first responders, including recovery support Provide education and training scholarships for public safety professionals as well as family members of fallen first responders The Motorola Solutions Foundation considers first responders to include federal and local law enforcement, professional and volunteer fire service personnel, emergency medical personnel and disaster response professionals. Eligible organizations are those that hold US 501(c)3 non-profit status or are a charitable Canadian organization (Canada-based organization must complete a verification process after application submission). Eligible organizations must submit recent audit or 990 tax forms and are restricted from requesting grant funds to purchase Motorola Solutions equipment. Through this grant cycle, the Motorola Solutions Foundation looks forward to improving first responder effectiveness, supporting families of fallen first responders and improving safety education for the general public.
