Headteacher: Mark Allison
Dear colleague,
Thank you for your interest in our Headteacher vacancy at Richmond Methodist School and
Arkengarthdale Church of England Primary School. Mark Allison, our current headteacher, is
leaving at the end of December 2015 to pursue new challenges. We would like to tell you
about the two schools; our unique collaboration and some of the many reasons why we are
proud of them.
Richmond Methodist School is situated in the market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The school has its origins as "The Wesleyan School" in the 19th Century. Fifteen miles to the
North West of Richmond is Arkengarthdale CE Primary School. Established in early 1700,
the school is a small, rural school situated in the heart of the most northerly of the Yorkshire
Dales.
Richmond Methodist and Arkengarthdale Church of England primary schools have worked
successfully together in collaboration for the past 2 years, maintaining their separate and
distinct ethos but increasingly sharing leadership capacity, curriculum provision and an
extensive programme of extra-curricular activities.
The senior leadership team is highly experienced, well-motivated and will provide an
excellent level of support for the new headteacher. The staff is talented and enthusiastic
and our greatest resource. Both schools are deemed to be “good” by Ofsted and we are
looking for a headteacher that can support our trajectory to becomingj outstanding schools.
The two schools believe that every child is special and that all children can succeed when
given the opportunity. Both schools aim to provide children with a stimulating, challenging
and enjoyable learning environment. We offer a rich, broad and balanced curriculum and
strive to enable our children to achieve the highest standards possible, regardless of their
ability. We have high expectations of the children’s behaviour and we encourage the
children to take responsibility for their actions and to take pride in their achievements and
their school. Both schools believe that education is a partnership between school and home
and that a close working relationship is vital.
If you would like further information or clarification, or if you wish to make a visit prior to
submitting an application; you are welcome to visit the schools on the following open days
on 20th and 23rd March 2015 . Please contact Mark Allison, the current headteacher, at
Richmond Methodist School.
If you are a qualified teacher with senior leadership experience and feel that you have the
ability to lead the schools on the next part of their journey, we look forward to receiving
your completed application. In your application, please address how you meet the person
and job specifications. The closing date is 5pm on 13th April. Applications should be sent to
Claire.pollard@richmondmethodist@n-yorks.sch.uk
The interview dates will be 27th and 28th April. The post is tenable from 1st January 2016.
Yours faithfully,
