Here are just a few highlights: The school veggie garden continues to be a focus with many classes working collaboratively with the Duchess of Dirt to get the growing season started. Native plant study by both Div. 4 &5 with Cultural Elder Diana McLean is developing. The Salmon in Div. 5 are growing! Work Out Wednesday run by the Grade 6s is a hit with everyone. The halls get filled with our students doing fitness stations (this looks like a good old fashion sports day). The Royston Salt Marsh presentations by Project Watershed in preparation for the April planting. Dr. Claire working with Grades 1,3 and 5 to cover BC Ministry Learning outcomes for health and body awareness. For primaries -“Body Science for Kids” and for the Grade 5s -“What you need to know about puberty.” For more information please go to: http://www.drclaire.ca/home Division 6 went swimming and curling. Division 1,2,7 and 8 went skating Wonderfully drumming and singing Everyone’s working hard on writing, reading and math skills too I must say that one of the highlights is when students come share their reading or invite me in to class to share their writing, or share their math thinking, however, I had a real treat when the all-girl Grades OneTwo band from Division 3 came to my office. Six girls in all; 3 carrying guitars- a yellow, a green and a pink- another girl was the “hummer”, next the “clapper” and last was the “shaker” (homemade maracas). Well, I can tell you it was gloriously out of tune, but just the best put-a –smile-on-your-face and a tear-inyour-eye kind of moment. Thank you girls you were brilliant. Please look further down this newsletter for PAC news, award recipients, the calendar and more. Please note that the day we usually have our Celebration of Success Assembly is changed for April. Rather than be a Friday it is a Wednesday. I will let you know the time. Librarians: Ms. Bruhn, Ms. Wynden Please note-the week we get back from Spring Break all of our students will be involved in the replanting of the Royston Salt Marsh. I will send another notice on Monday April 13. Students need waterproof boots as they will be in mud. Strong Start: Ms. Edgar When we return from the break please take a moment to look through the “lost and found”. It is overflowing with really good jackets and hoodies.
