OUR HOLY WEEK WITH THE LORD
We find ourselves with Holy Week and Easter just
around the corner. The culmination of Lent is Holy
Week, the week in which the saving mysteries of our Redemption take place. For this reason, Holy Week should
be the most important and ‘holy’ week of the year for us.
On Palm Sunday, we begin our annual walk with the
Lord, as we celebrate His triumphant entrance into Jerusalem. In our parishes, this entry is re-enacted at the principal Mass, as the palms are blessed and a solemn procession with palm branches leads us forward into the lifegiving mysteries of this ‘Great Week.’
On Holy Thursday, we celebrate the institution of the
awesome Sacraments of the Eucharist and Priesthood at
the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. At the end of Mass, we
walk in procession with our Eucharistic Lord to the Repository and in union with Him enter into His passion.
Good Friday finds us walking with the Lord again, the
Way of the Cross and celebrating the somber Liturgy of
Good Friday, including the reading of the Passion, the
Intercessory Prayers for the Church and World, the Veneration of the Wood of the Cross, and the reception of
Holy Communion. At the end of this Liturgy, we pray at
the Tomb of our Savior and await the joy of His Resurrection.
Holy Saturday is a day of keeping vigil, as we continue the Paschal Feast in anticipation of Easter joy. At
the Easter Vigil, the Mother of all Vigils, which begins in
the darkness of the night, we bless the fire and light the
Paschal Candle. Once again, we walk with the Lord in
procession with the newly blessed light and proclaim
“Christ, Our Light” and listen intently to the Exultant or
Easter proclamation, which ushers in a Season of unbridled joy.
Finally, on Easter Morning, we begin at the empty
tomb and proclaim Christ's resurrection to a waiting
world. We walk in procession with the Risen Lord. Our
faith is renewed and our hope is restored!
God bless you,
Fr. Arthur

CHEESECAKES WILL BE SOLD AFTER
ALL THE MASSES ON PALM SUNDAY!
Winter continues to take over Spring.
Everyone including myself is sick and tired
of this cold weather. The unpredictable
combination of events continues to surprise me. After
we fixed the frozen pipes in the church, I woke up one
morning and noticed that there was no hot water in the
rectory. OT A PLEASAT SURPRISE! We had to
buy a new hot water tank.
From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank Jason
Craig, known to everyone as Bundy, for volunteering
his time installing the new water tank and making sure
that it is in good working condition.
Thank you Bundy for your kindness. May God
bless you and your family.

part of our preparation for Easter. In a very special way,
the Holy Name Society and I would like to invite everybody for a Lenten get together. We will meet on Palm

prayer service and after that, everyone is invited to the
Cow Palace to watch the beautiful move, “The Son of

A Family Perspective
The Passion of Jesus makes it clear, no one escapes suffering. Suffering is inevitable, but no one should suffer
alone. This is one of the primary roles of families, to
stand with and support each other in suffering.
