My Brother Knights,
God loved us so much that over two
thousand years ago He came to us in
human form as a baby to show us
how to live, to the point death, death
on a cross to save you and me.
It is said that there is no greater
love then this “To lay down one’s own life for a
friend.” Jesus showed us how to do this every
day of His life. Every day He offered His life for
complete strangers, yet to Him they were not
strangers. Jesus did this every day to teach us
how we should live our lives.
This Easter season let us think back to the life
and times of Jesus. Let us live our lives as if we
would “lay down our life for a friend.”

Thank you, Brothers, for your
Cash Bonanza ticket response!
Two months ago, on February 8,
Brother Jim Fritter and I came away
from a State K of C meeting with 100
Cash Bonanza tickets, thinking we’ll
never sell that many. After studying
the State’s rebate system (and with
some prodding by Lady Lisa), we decided it
might be worthwhile to mail out 5 tickets to each
of 86 Council members. Our target was the
lowest rebate level, 1-1/2 tickets per member, or
129 tickets to be sold.
Well, thanks to your generous response, we
managed to sell more than 5 tickets per
member, qualifying us to receive a rebate of
$3.60 per ticket sold, or nearly $1,400 to add to

We Stand Strong On Ethical Ground
Some people believe that ethics in
business is a contradiction in terms.
They think that in order to be profitable,
a company and its leaders must
abandon morality and embrace the
dark, greedy side that they see so often in the
news and in movies..
At the Knights of Columbus, we know this isn’t
true. A business can be both ethical and
successful. We are!
As a Catholic organization, we understand the
value and importance of our core beliefs and the

March Business Meeting notes
Grand Knight's Report
 Meeting was called to order at 6:30 and was
suspended from 7-7:30 PM for Stations of
the Cross.
 Previous Minutes approved
 Thank you letters received from Bonnie
Chuha, Dennis Grose and the Columbus
Diocese for various projects and work.
 Grand Knight report on the Cash Bonanza
ticket sales. Sales are going well and up
from last year. Please consider supporting
the Cash Bonanza if you haven’t already
done so.
 Brother John Ciuca presented with his
2nd/3rd Degree Membership Card.
Treasurers Report
 Current bank balance noted.
Financial Secretary Report
 $1544 deposited from the 3/7 Fish Fry.
 Paid out $475 for Council Insurance, $230
for K of C ad in the Sunday Bulletin, $44.12
for mailing supplies.
 Verified that $100 rebate for RSVP program
was received from Supreme.
Program Directors Report
 Verified RSVP award of 100 points.
 Activities submitted but still pending: Council
Bowling party and Memorial Mass.

the Unborn Child.
New Business
 Financial request from the Boy Scouts;
decision not to contribute because of our
Eagle Scout support.
 Westerville Council has an electric fryer for
sale; matter tabled for now.

Anniversary of our Council is
upcoming. Discussion of a possible picnic
in late summer. Jeff Fisher offered to
organize the event.
 Discussion about repairs at Fr. Pat’s
condo—painting, patching etc. Will make
this a K of C project.

 The new altar for the Tabernacle at the
Church was installed on 3/14. Thanks to all
the Brothers who helped in the building and
instillation. Monday 3/23 will be the date for
the floor resurfacing at the Church.

 DD reported we are in line for Star Council;
as an added incentive, Supreme will grant a
$4.50 deduction on all per capita charges
for Star Councils this year.

State Activities complete
With the Rosary prayer offered by Brothers
and parishioners on March 25 the Day of the
Unborn Child, all 25 State activities needed to

Having a Child’s Response

The Sunday after Easter is
Divine Mercy Sunday. The Knights
have supported our observance by
providing an Honor Guard. We
want to adopt the devotion as more
than one day a year. To embrace
it, we need to recognize its true
value in our lives.
That year, I had to go to the back
of the church to nurse the baby, so I
had a clear view of the front of the
church after Father’s homily on Holy
Thursday. He invited everyone
forward to have their feet washed.
“It’s a gift you give me,” he said, with a look
that I had come to recognize. It’s a look of love
for each of us and of gratitude for his vocation.
That year, I noticed something: the children
were the leaders, the first responders to the
generosity of the invitation, and they didn’t hold
anything back. They were at the head of the line
with open arms, wide smiles, and unabashed
enthusiasm.
How often do I respond to God’s generosity
with that kind of enthusiasm?
Here, on the brink of Easter, let’s embrace the
example of the small people in our lives. Let’s
run to the front, as they do. Let’s laugh loudly
and be overflowingly grateful for the gift that is
Easter. And let’s live our lives as though that
gratitude makes a difference.

The message of the Divine Mercy is the infinite
source of that love and grace which flows from
the heart of Jesus. Rooted in the Sacraments,
especially Reconciliation, the Divine mercy is a
source o Sanctifying Grace that perfects the soul
for communion with Christ.
When regularly and devoutly prayed, the
chaplet becomes a source of habitual grace,
which enables us to continue in a life of
communion with Christ. For some it may also be
an actual grace that has led them to discover the
fullness of God’s mercy and love. Just as
devotions such as the Sorrowful Mysteries of the
Rosary and the Stations of the Cross bring us a
greater awareness of the Passion of Christ, the
Divine Mercy prayers remind us “for the sake of
your sorrowful passion” that mercy is asked for
us and the whole world.

Council men build and install new altar and cabinets for church/PAC
Under the motivation and steady guidance of Dennis Grose, more than a dozen Brothers
constructed and installed an tabernacle altar for the church and cabinets for storing a new platform,
yet to be built, for the PAC. The fabrication work was done in Dennis Grose’s workshop. The

The old central altar platform is slid back to the rear wall to
become a base for the tabernacle altar.
Brothers Dvorsky and Seivers remove staples from the
carpeting prior to relocating it to the rear.
Brothers Bradley, Fisher, Thobe, Seivers and Donovan
carry the new tabernacle altar in to its new home.

was started on Wednesday, March 18.
Brothers and helpers working on both projects included boss-man Dennis Grose, Deacon Tony
Bonacci, Dan Bradley, Jim Dvorsky, Kevin and Sean Donovan, Dave Farrand, Jeff Fisher, Jim
Fritter, Mike Gorman, Bob Hess, Mark Needham, John O’Connell, Todd Thobe.

Serving as Quality Control Inspector, Deacon Tony checks
and approves the alignment of the cabinet top.
Twelve pairs of bi-fold doors are arrayed for color matching
before being installed on the cabinet frames.
At the PAC, Brother Grose begins attaching the framework
for the cabinets to the wall. Surprise! Steel studs!!
With the frame attached to the wall, Brother O’Connell
secures the vertical supports to the floor.

that would undoubtedly provide excellent returns
for us, but which are not in our portfolio because
they engage in research and development or
programming in ways that violate the sanctity or
dignity of human life.”
In the end, the Knights of Columbus
investment strategy is motivated by morality, not
money. Yet, each year we remain profitable,
increase our assets and stay dedicated to this
vision that will keep the Order financially sound
for generations to come.
“Faithful Catholics have choices when buying
life insurance,” said the Supreme Knight. “But
they know that at the Knights of Columbus their
policy is supplied by an insurer that shares their
moral and ethical values and is guided in all of its
investment and sales practices by those values.”

Contributing to our success was the effort of
Dan Bradley’s Dead Theologian Society youths,
who earned a sub-rebate of their own for selling
these tickets.
