Study Shows Western Governors University (WGU) Grads More Engaged At Work And Report Better Overall Well-Being Than National Average Graduates from WGU are more likely than graduates from other U.S. universities to have the jobs they want, feel engaged at work, and have an emotional attachment to their alma maters, according to a study conducted by Gallup in 2014. The study, which included 4,000 WGU graduates, compared the WGU responses to the national data included in the Gallup-Purdue Index. Gallup and Purdue developed the index to examine the long-term success of graduates as they pursue a good job and a better life. The index provides insight into the relationship between the college experience and whether college graduates have great jobs and great lives. According to the study: The employment rate for WGU alumni who have graduated within the last five years—79 percent—easily outdistances the national average of 66 percent. WGU graduates are more likely to be engaged employees—15 percent higher than the national average. WGU alumni are at least twice as likely as graduates of other institutions to be thriving in all five elements of wellbeing—purpose, social, financial, community, and physical. WGU alumni are almost twice as likely to be emotionally attached to their university than alumni from other types of universities—proof that personal connections are possible in distance learning. “WGU grads are more than twice as likely than other college graduates to say they had a faculty member who encouraged their goals and dreams,” said Brandon Busteed, Executive Director, Gallup Education. “Given that Gallup has found this to be the single strongest element linked to long-term success in at 10:00-10:30 a.m. at 5835 E Still Circle, Mesa, AZ 85206. Ottawa University’s undergraduate degrees in Psychology, Human Services and Addiction Counseling equip future social agents to address the needs of highly diverse populations confronting issues of poverty, substance abuse, mental health, aging, and relational crisis. Bobbe McGinley grew up with alcoholic parents, had two failed marriages with addicts, was an alcoholic herself, and has a daughter who suffers from compulsive gambling. But when her third husband checked her into treatment after 11 years of marriage, the couple faced the enemy together. Bobbe’s personal struggle with alcoholism and recovery provided her with a respectful foundation for dealing with others’ addictions. She was struck with regret, however, at not going to college to obtain her degree. Through the encouragement of a friend, Bobbe overcame her concerns of being “too old and too dumb” and earned her BA in Psychology from OU-Arizona, followed immediately by an MA in Professional Counseling. Bobbe now serves as Clinical Director, Counselor and Consultant at ACT Counseling and Education in Phoenix. Whatever your goals for serving the disparaged of society, Ottawa University can help you reach them by utilizing the Maricopa Community College Transfer Advantage to earn your Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (HS), Psychology (Psy), or Addiction Counseling fully online, or at one of our campuses (HS & Psy). With your degree, you can pursue a career in counseling, social work, rehabilitation, elder care, community outreach, addiction counseling, and many related fields. American Public University System (APUS) Announces Partnership With Maricopa Community Colleges American Public University System (APUS) has recently signed an agreement to partner with Maricopa Community Colleges (Maricopa) to offer its graduates a path towards earning a Bachelor’s degree online. APUS was founded in 1991 by a retired Marine Corps officer who envisioned an innovative way to offer quality and affordable education to our U.S. armed force. APUS has grown to serve a diverse population of more than 100,000 military, public service, and corporate professionals through American Military University (AMU) and American Public University (APU). APUS embraces and supports lifelong learning for its students, staff, and faculty. It is our belief that partnerships and affiliations with organizations in our community help to ensure that: Our curriculum is relevant and current. We maximize the use of new technologies. Our students, faculty, and staff are given the opportunity to learn about and apply the latest developments in their fields. Faculty, staff, and students are afforded networking opportunities within their field. Through this agreement, APUS and Maricopa will work together, across institutions, to assist Maricopa students to achieve their aspirations and potential beyond the Associate’s degree. Historically, there has been a transfer gap between Bachelor's and Associate's degree granting institutions. This partnership with APUS is based upon a practical approach to working together to improve the transfer process between Maricopa and APUS. The agreement will allow academic departments the ability to work collaboratively to align programs and create individual academic discipline articulation agreements. Our student-focused transfer credit policy helps you to maximize previously earned credits in order to save both time and money on your way to a Bachelor's degree and beyond. Continuing your education at APUS comes with: open enrollment with no fee to apply; an undergraduate book grant offering ebooks and course materials at no charge; a team of admission, financial aid and academic advisors ready to answer your questions. In addition, full-time community college faculty and staff can benefit from our wide selection of graduate level courses, certificates, and Master’s degrees. Additionally, this partnership will allow representatives from APUS to regularly attend transfer fairs and other events hosted by Maricopa. If you have questions about how you can transfer your credits towards an online Bachelor’s degree from APUS, you can look for a representative at your next transfer event or you can go online to www.apus.edu/affiliations/cc Transfer Scholarships Abound At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Transfer students will receive a roadmap to success upon entering BenU through guidance by the school’s John O.
