Featuring a triathlon for children and novice adults, an Olympic distance triathlon and a Sprint distance race, as well as a sports and fitness expo, the 32nd St. Anthony’s Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, April 24-26. More than 25 professional stars of the sport, including the 2013 women’s winner of St. Anthony’s Alicia Kaye, have registered to compete in Sunday’s triathlon. In 2014, Kaye won the Life Time Tri Oceanside, the Life Time Tri Minneapolis, the Life Time Tri CapTex and the TriRock Philadelphia Triathlon. Also vying for the 2015 Women’s crown will be the 2014 Age Group Female Triathlete of the Year Heather Lendway, and Magali Tisseyre who won the 2015 Ironman 70.3 Monterrey, Mexico, the 2014 Ironman 70.3 Miami and the 2014 Ironman 70.3 Silverman. Among the men who will be trying to capture the 2015 crown are Ben Collins, winner of the 2014 New York City Triathlon and 2014 Life Time Tri Minneapolis, Kaleb VanOrt, who recently won the Clermont CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon American Cup, and St. Anthony’s 2010 winner Cameron Dye, who won several Triathlons across the U.S. last year. --More-- Page 2/3,600 to Swim, Bike and Run on St. Anthony’s Waterfront Course in St. Petersburg These are just a few of the professionals registered for the 2015 St. Anthony’s Triathlon. The field of competitors includes world champions, past winners and Olympians who are coming from around the world and around Tampa Bay. The 2015 St. Anthony’s Triathlon weekend events and registration are: Friday, April 24-Saturday, April 25: Sports and Fitness Expo, Straub Park, 500 Beach Drive. Friday, Noon – 7 p.m.; Saturday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Free. Saturday, April 25: Meek & Mighty Triathlon, North Shore Pool, 901 North Shore Drive. Shorter distance race for youths ages 7-14 and novice adults, 7:30 a.m. start time. Sunday, April 26: St. Anthony’s Triathlon, North Shore & Vinoy Park Olympic distance race (1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run.) 6:50 a.m. start time. St. Anthony’s Sprint Distance race, (750-meter swim, 20K bike, 5K run) Approx. 8:45 a.m. start time. In January, USA Triathlon (USAT) named St. Anthony’s Triathlon as the Florida Regional Championship event for the USAT Championship in Milwaukee on August 8.
