A Super Hero Award will be given out; honoring an individual for the extraordinary work he/she has done to uplift the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our culture. The Attitudinal Healing Connection offers transformative intervention strategies for schools through the ArtEsteem Program, an art and social justice program. "Reflections of Me and My World 2015" is an annual exhibition that offers young people opportunities to display their work to the public. The exhibition highlights thought provoking visual and performance art created by ArtEsteem students. Giving voice to dreams, desires and concerns, these young artists are creatively engaged in a yearlong learning process, developing skills and techniques in visual arts and cultural expression. Under the theme and curriculum of Self as Super Hero, students create super heroes with powers to solve problems in the world and transform communities. This year's theme, "The Art of Building Legacy" focuses on using the imagination to find creative solutions to bring about positive and sustainable change in our communities. The event will spotlight art that expresses the critical thinking, realities, and dreams of self and society, created by children and youth ages 5 to 18. Most of the art will be for sale and there will be a performance from the cultural arts classes. Based on past years, the exhibit is expected to draw more than 300 patrons and significant media presence. ArtEsteem focuses on, but is not limited to, serving children and youth who are at risk for violence and other dangerous behaviors. It aims to increase students' capacity for leadership and enhance artistic skills in schools where art classes have been cancelled due to budget cuts. ArtEsteem provides on-site art instruction, workshops and assemblies that impact over 2,000 public-school children annually. Each year, the program culminates in this professionally produced art exhibition that promotes young talent, provides a vehicle for public acknowledgement of their efforts, supports creative expression, and celebrates the importance of the arts. * About the Attitudinal Healing Connection, Inc. - Founded in Oakland, California in 1989, Attitudinal Healing Connection, Inc.
