Focus on Diesel
Clean Diesel Technology is a
specialized course in our Sacramento CTE Vehicle Maintenance
Service and Repair Pathway. It is
an introduction to clean diesel
engines and equipment. This
course is for students interested in

ARC to complete their certificate in Clean Diesel Technology.

this path during their time at
a career in diesel truck repair, locomotive repair, and clean energy
fields. Upon completion of this

enter the certificated Clean Diesel
Technology program at ARC.

Young Women’s Leadership
Thank you to all of the young
women, teachers, and administrators who have been part of the
leadership workshops. They were
all a great success!
For the first workshop, we focused
on identifying and using our
strengths; during the second, we
explored the effect of media on
women today; finally, the third
workshop encouraged us to
respect ourselves.
The Young Women’s Leadership Luncheon will be held

from 11:30am-1:30pm at the
George Sim Community Center.
Participants will join together
for a powerful event with various community speakers and an
opportunity for one-on-one
conversations as well as a delicious lunch.

Summer School
SAVA Power Inn will again be offering
summer school this year. Summer school will
run from June 8-July 16. Students who enroll
will have the opportunity to earn up to 10
credits and will be required to attend twice
per week.
The Women in Construction program will
also be offered again this year. This exciting
program runs from July 13 through August
6th. Classes will be Monday through
Thursday from 9am to 12pm. This class is
worth 5 credits and also fulfills your service learning project which is required for
graduation. Senior Block will be offered to
these students each afternoon and is worth
an additional 7.5 credits. This year the
young ladies will be building a stage for
the SAVA recording studio.
Senior Dinner will take place on May 20th at 5:00pm at
George Sim Community Center. Students may bring 2
guests to enjoy dinner. They will also receive their caps
and gowns as well as their senior portraits.
Graduation will take place on June 4th at 6:00pm at Memorial AuditoStudent of the Month

SAVA Student Honored
On Friday,
March 6th,
SAVA student
Marisa Carranza was joined
by her teacher
Ms. Welch and
Vice Principal MacDonald as she
received the Every Student Succeeding Award from The Association of California School Administrators. ACSA’s Every Student Succeeding program honors
students who exceed expectations, overcome great obstacles,
and face life’s challenges head
on. Marisa has been with SAVA for
many years, has maintained a solid
academic standing, a positive attitude, and a strong will to succeed.
Marisa is academically successful and is extremely motivated.
Because of her
strength and
commitment to
excellence, Marisa will be graduating a full year
early!
In the future, Marisa plans to
complete her high school diploma, spend some time at a local
community college, and then
transfer as soon as possible to a
UC program where she can study
pre-law. This will lead her closer
to her ultimate dream which is to
become a lawyer.
SAVA is proud of
