We have made a great start to the year. In travelling
around the school yesterday it was pleasing to see all the
students getting themselves organised and ready for a
boundless year of learning.
Dog fight
Unfortunately our start was marred by a vicious dog fight
outside the prep room yesterday. The incident was well
managed by the staff ensuring that all students were safe
and did not witness the event. The authorities were
notified and the staff and injured dog were treated
promptly. It was a reminder of the importance of a quick
response, how unpredictable dogs can be and vigilance
around animals. However it did not stop the remaining
staff and students having a wonderful first day- especially
our Prep students.

These sessions are primarily for adults but we do
understand that students may need to come along. Please
advise your classroom teacher if you will be attending.
Attendance
This year we will be having a focus on attendance. We
want to encourage each and every student to be at school
as much as possible. We are working hard to ensure that
every day, every lesson counts when it comes to learning.
Look out for the acknowledgement of those students who
consistently attend school. We will be particularly focused
on ensuring that we know about every absent day to
ensure the safety of each child who is not here. Please
help us by encouraging your child to attend and letting us
know if your child is absent. (Absences: 4086 9366)
Home reading
We are keen to develop and sustain a reading culture in
our school. A key to this is the regular practice of each
child reading every night. We want to support parent with
this by regularly check and changing home-readers. Each
day teacher aides will be doing this. Please ensure your
child returns their home-reading diary/book/folder. If you
have any issues with home reading, please contact your
classroom teacher to ensure we can get your child reading
each and every night!
Communication
I would encourage every parent to make contact with your
child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. If you are
able to, please come to the parent teacher information
session next week. If you are unable to come for any
reason please advise your classroom teacher as soon as
possible. Education is a partnership!
