APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP OF THE FOOD AND DRINK WALES INDUSTRY BOARD SUPPORTING THE DELIVERY OF ‘TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE GROWTH: AN ACTION PLAN FOR THE FOOD & DRINK INDUSTRY 2014-2020’’ The Welsh Government’s Department for Agriculture, Veterinary, Food and Marine appointed Mr Robin Jones, MD, The Village Bakery, as the Interim Chair for the Shadow Food and Drink Wales Industry Board (The Board) in July 2014. The Board will be the voice of the food and drink industry in Wales, providing direction, encouraging networking and sharing vital information. The Board will also establish both formal and informal ways of providing advice to Government. Following a successful recruitment exercise in September of last year further Members are now being sought from those with experience of the food and drink sector in the areas of business management, marketing, knowledge transfer, research and development and innovation. As the interim Chair, Mr Jones is liaising with industry to recruit and appoint the membership of the Board. The membership will encompass whole food chain and manufacturing representation. The elected Members will need to have sound experience and knowledge of one or more food and drink sub-sectors such as dairy, red meat, poultry, bakery, organic, horticulture, drinks, fisheries and aquaculture sectors. It is the policy of the Welsh Government to promote and integrate equality of opportunity into all aspects of its business. We particularly welcome applications from women, disabled people, young people and individuals with an ethnic minority background who are genuinely interested in the work of the Food and Drink Wales Industry Board and can contribute to making it a high performing public body. We also welcome applicants who are able to speak Welsh. The principles of fair and open competition will apply and appointments will be made on merit. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Board, please tell us about your experience & expertise in the Food and Drink Sector outlining your involvement with the supply chain in Wales/elsewhere; and/or related stakeholder interest; your knowledge and understanding of the industry in Wales/UK and the issues faced by Wales paying attention to the Welsh policy impact. (Maximum of 500 words) The closing date for applications is 24 April 2015. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
