Taping, in a variety of forms, has been used for years in the management of both acute and chronic conditions. Taping offers the advantage of extended benefit to the patient with minimal negative effect. This workshop provides a unique experience for the learner by combining a variety of corrective and kinesiology taping techniques for the treatment of many commonly encountered clinical pathologies of the lower extremity. You will learn to target motor impairments and biomechanical faults related to dysfunction and address them with taping and select exercise strategies. Additional symptom management strategies are included. Kinesiology taping is a growing modality utilized in the treatment of a variety conditions encountered in the clinic today. Taping, in a variety of forms, has been used for years in the management of both acute and chronic conditions. Develop a treatment strategy involving taping and exercise focused on movement control related to specific upper extremity pathology. 3. Perform specific taping techniques related upper extremity pathology and specific movement patterns. 4. Recall functional anatomy as it relates to kinesiology taping. 5. Describe the various cutting techniques and their clinical applications. 6. Apply kinesiology taping for various purposes including relaxation and stimulation of muscles, pain and swelling, joint mobility and stability, treatment of the spine and upper extremity dysfunction, and lymphaedema management. Physical Therapists – NJ: These courses have been submitted to the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for approval, 6.0 hours each. PA: These courses have been submitted to the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy for approval, 6.0 hours each. Athletic Trainers - Summit Professional Education is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers. These programs have been approved for a maximum of 6.0 hours each of category A continuing education. He has no non-financial relationships to disclose. About Your Program Instructor Eric Folmar, PT, DPT, OCS, is the director of rehab for Orthopedic Care Specialists, Inc. in Easton, MA. He graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2001 with his Bachelor’s degree of Health Science and his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. He received his doctoral degree in physical therapy from Northeastern University in 2014. Dr. Folmar is a certified specialist in orthopedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He has spent extensive time studying and lecturing nationally on topics such as lower extremity biomechanics, exercise strategies, and kinesiology taping. His areas of expertise include sports medicine, orthopedics, and biomechanics. He evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal diagnoses and works extensively with athletes at all levels, including runners, throwing athletes, and dancers. In addition to his lecture series Dr. Folmar is a member of the clinical faculty at Northeastern University in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitative Sciences as well as a Graduate Lecturer in the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Orthopedics in Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies. your receipt for fees paid at the time of registration.
