Catskill Conservation Corps Rehabilitating Devil’s Acre Lean-to on Hunter Mountain When: Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and June 14, 2015 from 10am to 4pm Where: Devil’s Acre Lean-to, Hunter Mountain, Hunter, NY Contact: Heather Rolland, Catskill Conservation Corps Coordinator hrolland@nynjtc.org; 518-628-4243 The Catskill Conservation Corps invites volunteers to take part in the rehabilitation of the Devil’s Acre Lean-to on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, from 10am to 4pm on both days. The Devil’s Acre Lean-to in located along the Devil’s Path on Hunter Mountain. Volunteers will hike to the lean-to. The work on the lean-to will include the removal of the existing roof and the installation of a new roof. The existing asphalt roof is in poor condition and will be replaced with a new cedar shingle roof that was funded by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference’s Catskill Community Trails Fund. Other work for volunteers will include bringing materials to the site from the summit of Hunter Mountain where they are being stored and bringing out waste materials. The crew will be working on the lean-to both Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers can join the crew both days or just for a single day. The public is welcome to join and you do not need to be a member of the Trail Conference or have prior experience with the Catskill Conservation Corps to get involved. Volunteers should be sure to wear hiking boots; dress appropriately for the outdoor conditions and our activities; bring a bag lunch; pack plenty of water and snacks; and bring work gloves. No experience is necessary, we will provide the tools and the training on site before we get started. Pre-registration is required for the event.
