This qualification provides the knowledge and skills needed to work as a Dental Technician. It covers the construction of dentures, bridges, crowns and other dental appliances and the repair and modification of these appliances. Further Study Pathways After achieving HLT50512 Diploma of Dental Technology, students may continue their studies by enrolling in the following course: • HLT60412 Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics Employment opportunities The following employment opportunities are available to students who complete this qualification: • Dental Technician Mode of Study This course is delivered using a combination of delivery modes including: • Lectures • Tutorials • Online learning • Practical “hands on” skills development • Industry work placement Assessment Assessment is both formative and summative and may include a combination of: • Questioning • Reports • Scenarios • Case studies • Projects • Skills assessment • Industry work placement • • Proficiency Test. To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Diploma level, this can be demonstrated via the following: • Any of the following: • Completion of Year 12 or the equivalent level of study • Mature age entry > 21 years of age • Minimum English level of IELTS 5.5.
