By Robyn Wheeler Monitor Staff Writer SEVEN POINTS– Scottie’s Smokehouse in Seven Points is adding several hot new items to its menu. And by hot, they mean HOT! HOT new items include Landjäger German-style hunters sausage, summer sausage, Jalapeño jelly and Jalapeño and cheese links. To compliment their already popular mouthwatering creations, Scottie’s is a new line of products to “grab and go” such as summer sausage, Landjäger sausage, homemade pepperoni sticks and the original “Gormans” oldfashioned beef jerky and seasoning marinade. Sausages are hand made in-house and include smoked German sausages, old-fashioned hot links, beer bräts and bacon and cheese links. Barbeque items are made in-house to perfection and all sauces are made from scratch. Hamburger meats are ground fresh daily, never frozen, for maximum flavor to make the best burgers on the lake. As a compliment to your homemade Scottie’s Smokehouse burgers or barbeque meal, don’t forget to pick up some adult beverages next door at Scottie’s Liqour. Scottie’s Smokehouse is located inside Scottie’s Exxon Station at 101 S. Seven Points Drive in Seven Points and is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m daily. Phone-in orders may be made by calling (903) 432-4890. ETMC May Auxiliary report By Doris Gardenhire Special to The Monitor ATHENS–We have just a brief column this month since we didn’t have a general meeting, but I want to give some more information about the beautiful quilt in our current giveaway. Entirely handcrafted, the quilt was donated by Marcella Rutherford, a quilt dealer from Palestine. She takes old quilts, cleans them up, and sells them but in this case, she just gave it to us! She says the quilt was originally made in the 1950s in Arkansas. She has done a tremendous job of cleaning it up – it is bright white with embroidered flowers on it, ready to hang or brighten up any bedroom. The winner will be decided Friday, May 29. The awards tea was very nice, including installation of officers and entertainment by Beau Humble. Chairman for the event was Shirley Lippincott, who thanked all those who made it possible, including Mary Bess, Margaret Austin, David Williams, the First Baptist Church for the use of their facilities, decorator Cindy Schmidt, Expressions Florist, Marilyn and Bill Wright, Larry Beeman, Beau Humble for entertainment, and caterer Stacy Arnold and Meadowlark Fields Country House. One highlight was Ginger Kirk’s installation of officers. Admitting that she was a candy striper a few years ago, she praised the auxiliary for counteracting all the negative publicity that hospitals are getting now. She charged the auxiliary members to continue to be compassionate and work together to support the new officers. New officers include President Margaret Austin, First Vice President Frankie McEntire, Second Vice President Lou Campbell (who remains the Gift Shop Buyer), and Treasurer Alberta Pingle, for the second year. A secretary will be named later. Funeral services for Virginia “Honey” Dalrymple, 83, of Trinidad, were held May 12, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church in Tool, with Bro. Steven Palmer officiating. Interment was held at King Cemetery under the direction of HuckabeeTomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points. Dalrymple was born April 9, 1932, in Tool, to Allie Mae and Tommie Herman Mullins, and died May 9 in Trinidad. She grew up in the Tool area and began school at the Flagg Lake School. Her class was the last class to attend Flagg Lake. She received her high school ring from Malakoff, where she attended after Flagg Lake closed, but she transferred to Kemp and graduated high school there. She worked with Curtis Mathes for 15 years and Northern Telecom for 20 years. Everyone who knew her called her “Honey.” She loved her family and was the heart of the family. She was the glue that held the family together. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Walton Dalrymple, parents, son Clyde Walton Dalrymple II, brothers Veral Mullins, Ted Mullins, and sister Betty Jo Colvin. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Barton and husband Johnny of Kemp, son Billy and wife Selena of Aley, daughterin-law Sandy Dalrymple of Malakoff, brothers Earl and Ned Mullins, grandchildren Crystal Barton, Jason and Kristi Dalrymple, Alicia and Carlos Castro, Marta Dalrymple and Troy Engeldow, Billy Dalrymple, Larry and Mandy Dalrymple, Clint Dalrymple, Bobbi Jo and Dustin Loosier, Daniel and Devon Higgons, and Dana Higgons, 21grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Pallbearers were her grandsons and honorary pallbearers were her great-grandsons. The family would like to thank Bobbi Jo Loosier for her love and care in helping with Honey.
