Box 1 Toney, AL 35773 256.859.1073 Most of the leaders of Troop 94 are from Packs 94, 8, 86, 201, and 412 which carries on the legacy of being outstanding organizations We understand that Scouts are very busy with many activities – that’s okay Troop Offers: Nice size, safe environment, Seasoned Scouters, Strong Parent Involvement, Scouts at All Age Levels, High Adventure Program, and Venturing Crew affiliation All new patrols are assigned a more senior Scout as a troop guide to show them the ropes of troop life TROOP 94 LEADERSHIP ADAM REMER – SCOUTMASTER adam@adamremer.com JIM CHARLTON – COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN jcharlton@mcri.com Hiking the Pinnacle at Camp Jackson, AL Scout Motto: Be Prepared Waterfront at Camp Comer, AL A Scout is…Brave Troop 94 Web site: www.scouttroop94.org HISTORY AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS Established in October 1994 Through our program we execute and support the Aims of Scouting, specifically: Citizenship Training, Character Development, and Personal Fitness • • By using the Aims of Scouting, a critical troop goal is to make quality Eagle Scouts! • • • • What does it mean to be an Eagle Scout? • Scoutmaster Master Conference (SMC) is performed prior to the Board of Review • Review progress in Scouting to date • Set goals for next rank advancement • Troop Committee conducts Board of Review (BOR) to actually advance a Scout to the next rank • Quality Unit every year since existence Received Commissioner’s Honor Unit Award 3 years Eagle Scouts to date – about national average Currently have around 50 Scouts & 38 adults Registered – new Scouts joining all the time CAMPING “CRAZY” • Achieve over 30 days/nights camping every year Cumulative camping over 700 days/nights • Activity Examples: Philmont Scout Ranch NM, National Scouting Museum, TX (twice), Buffalo River AR, Boundary Waters MN, Sea Base (Florida Keys), Pensacola FL, Mobile AL, • Mammoth Caves KY, National Scout Jamboree, and many other places • • Whitewater rafting on the Ocoee and Hiawassee Rivers in TN every year in Caving most years in Feb/Mar timeframe – Quarterly Courts of Honor • Entire family encouraged to attend • Advancements since last CoH handed out in • Merit Badges and any other awards also • Dinner provided before awards – under $5-6 handed out per person Popcorn sales have cover most of the Troop’s routine expenses – equipment/supplies, etc. ADULT INVOLVEMENT IN OUTINGS & TRANSPORTATION Immediate recognition at following troop meeting with patch (ceremony at COH) • Youth Protection required for all leaders including merit badge counselors – everybody • Event Campmaster handles tour permits • Troop policy that you must be registered to attend troop outings (youth protection and insurance coverage) except for family outings (whitewater and caving trips) • All vehicles used to transport Scouts must have adequate insurance and be on list with tour permit • Summer Camp every year provides tremendous merit badge opportunity • Culture Day at A&M, Troop Lock-in in Dec/Jan; several MB Colleges • For M/B outside of regular meetings or Summer Camp • Scouts (preferably 2 or more), obtain “blue card” from Advancement Chair, as well as determine if counselors are available • FUNDRAISERS • 2-deep leadership required for all activities (strictly adhered to) Merit Badges (Many opportunities available) ceremonies for each rank • • • • family outing • CLASS “A” – shirt, neckerchief/slide, hat, belt (Scout trousers/shorts encouraged but not mandatory) CLASS “B” T-SHIRTS – green T-shirt (take Troop order in April) TROOP HATS – take orders in April UNIFORM LENDING CLOSET DUES (ONCE PER YEAR - $60) & GENERAL COSTS OF OUTINGS o Collected in November We do 100% Boys’ Life Typical Outing costs – $5 - $10 mainly for food, except for major outings, of course. Committee Chairman or Designated Committee Member chair Boards of Review Aug/Sept – family outing • UNIFORM DETAILS ADVANCEMENT, MERIT BADGES, COUNSELORS, SMC, & BOR Scouts get permission from Scoutmaster once they have blue card SUMMER CAMP Summer camp will be at Camp Comer 21-27 June 2015.
