So why don’t more people care about nutrition? Why do many development programs, particularly in health and education, still not include nourishment? Perhaps it is because people care about the results of vitality and wellness, not its components. They care about baby development and growth, educational and physical performance, or personal and employee productivity. To generate consumer demand for nourishing food, the connections between nourishment and those broader results must be made. Providing fully nourishing diets is already a huge challenge, yet nourishment alone is not enough to produce vitality and wellness. Indeed, health and other factors reduce nourishment absorption and often offset any benefits of “nutrition only” programs. Fortunately, many social entrepreneurs and social businesses around the world are innovating on how to deliver better nutrition and health outcomes. Objectives and audience This one-day event will be an opportunity to share the innovative approaches developed by social entrepreneurs and others and think through the questions these bring.
