Happy Anniversary, TPU!
Can you believe we’ve been doing this for ten years now? It seems
like just yesterday when we held the first TPU at the Cahaba Grand.
Since then we’ve grown, and we’ve shrunk. We’ve changed days,
we’ve changed months, we’ve even changed cities. We tried hot
dogs and hamburgers one year...we haven’t done that again. We’ve
been through regulatory changes, pandemics, and natural disaster.
We’ve been copied — but never duplicated. Through it all we’ve held
one clear focus: to provide the highest quality continuing education
to long term care professionals.
We’re back in Montgomery this year. The Embassy Suites has
promised to provide us with everything we need and then some.
We’re starting a little later in the morning to give everyone a chance
to get here safely. Of course, if you want to come the night before,
we’ve arranged for a special rate at the Embassy.

Beverly Rankin, LCSW, MSSW
Beverly Rankin served as Assistant Professor of Sociology
and Social Work at Auburn University for over 25 years. In
addition, she served as Associate Dean for Student Affairs
in the School of Liberal Arts for a number of years before her
retirement. She was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher
and today maintains her love of learning and teaching. She
has served on numerous community boards and has been
active in the collective actions to improve the quality of life
for individuals, their families, and the community. Since
2001 she has been involved in various roles of delivering
social services and therapy for those seeking mental
health services. She is an advocate for the profession of
social work and all helping professions. Her intention is for
excellence, professionalism, compassion, and advocacy
for the betterment of all mankind.
Lee M. Nail, RN, BSN, MEd, MSN/FNP
TPU welcomes back one of our most popular educators.
Lee is a Certified Urological Nurse Practitioner with
over 27 years experience working in the long term care
environment. He has served as a staff nurse, charge nurse,

nurse supervisor, and assistant director of nursing in home
care and long term care. He was founder and president
of Nursing Solutions, Inc., providing incontinence care for
residents in 32 nursing homes in Alabama. He currently
serves as the Vice President - Clinical Director for Onsight
Senior Care, and is responsible for the full clinical direction
of their Continence Care and Foot Care divisions.
Michael Arther, NHA
Michael Arther is the owner of MCA Consulting, LLC.
Providing occupational risk management services for the
long-term care industry with primary emphasis in OSHA
regulatory compliance and workers compensation program
management. Michael is a graduate of Jacksonville State
University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety
and Health. He is an Alabama Licensed Nursing Home
Administrator with more than twelve years of Healthcare
Loss/Cost Control experience.
Mary Ann Morris, MSN, LPC, ACLS
Mary Ann is a Certified Diabetes Educator with over 35
years experience in educating and supervising nursing
and medical staff in general, psychiatric, and diabetesspecific nursing and health care. She has worked with Troy
University, Auburn Montgomery, Coosa Valley School of
Nursing and Jackson Hospital.
