Visit the animals at Paignton Zoo, ride on a vintage bus to Greenway House, take a pony and trap to Old Cockington, a boat trip around the bay, spend a day Letter Boxing on Dartmoor, or just sit by the water in one of the many waterside villages close by that provide excellent areas for crabbing, whilst you enjoy a coffee. Stoke Gabri el English Riviera needs no introduction... Board a ferry to Dartmouth and discover the delights of this riverside town, overlooked by the majestic Britannia Royal Naval College. Then relax as you cruise up the river to historic Totnes, viewing en route the riverside villages of Dittisham, Stoke Gabriel and of course Galmpton Touring Park, the only camping and caravan park with views over the tidal River Dart. Greenway Ferries offer a range of wonderful river trips to Dartmouth, Totnes or Dittisham, all departing from just down the road at Greenway Quay. At Galmpton Touring Park, we are also really lucky to be surrounded by a fantastic network of walks to give you a first hand taste of the beautiful countryside around us. Enjoy a circular walk from the Park through fields & woods with spectacular views over the River Dart & across Torbay. Along the route you can break your journey by visiting Greenway Gardens, only about a mile from here. Salcombe This beautiful woodland garden beside the Dart surrounds Greenway House, former home of Agatha Christie and now a National Trust property. Indulge in a Devon Cream Tea before walking back, or continue over the river by ferry to the village of Dittisham for a great lunch at either The Ferry Boat Inn or fish speciality café The Anchor Stone, or head down river to Dartmouth. For the more energetic there are miles of local footpaths to explore. At Penn Inn roundabout, Newton Abbot, follow the signs for Torquay/Paignton, at the roundabout take the second exit onto Hamelin Way (A380 Ring Road). Continue straight for a pproximately 6.5 miles following signs for Brixham/Dartmouth. At the Toll Pike Cottage traffic lights turn right towards Brixham/Dartmouth (ignore Galmpton sign at the traffic lights) proceed past the common taking the next right onto Manor Vale Road, and follow the brown signs to Galmpton Park. Continue through the village, past the school and the Park entrance can be found on the right at the brow of the hill. We recommend you avoid travelling through the village at the end of the school day, as traffic is busy at this time. Please do NOT follow your Sat Nav as it directs down country lanes. At busy periods we advise cars to travel down the A38 and through Totnes.
