Before going out of town, placing a catalog order or shopping
on the internet, we should consider doing business in the
community in which we live. It may seem that purchases
made out of town have very little impact on our community,
but in the grand scheme of things, they do! By spending our
dollars in the Boaz area, we are improving the quality of life
for everyone that lives here.
According to The Washington
Post, for every $100 that you spend at a locally owned
business $68 goes back into the community through
payroll, taxes, and other expeditures, only $43 from
national chains, and nothing from online retailers.
If we are truly looking to stimulate our local economy,
shopping local is how it’s done!
When you look around Boaz, you see many shops that you
like to frequent from time to time, so let’s help keep them
in business in our town! Every dollar spent somewhere else
affects them. Their children go to school with our children
and their livelihood depends on us. We have to view
ourselves as a family and protect each other’s interests.
We have the ability to keep our business community strong
by purchasing from our local business owners, which directly
benefits our families and our community. Keeping our tax
dollars in Boaz means more money for our schools,
additional money for our parks and recreation facilities, more
money for police and fire protection, upkeep on our roadways
and a stronger business and economic base. It even helps
create more jobs for everyone.
