Refrigerant piping works Process Drawing review Pipe Cutting Mounting Brazing Air Tight Test Insulation work - Compare the actual site with the drawing and check interferences - Select proper pipe (Diameter & Thickness) - Prepare the pipe for installing - Cutting Burring Covering - Hang the prepared Pipe on supporter (every 1~1.5m) - Install Down Stopper for Vertical pipe -Connect pipe by using Branch pipe or Header joint - Brazing connected part so that there is no leak - Required Nitrogen blowing when brazing - Check pipe leak after brazing work - Nitrogen gas as 4.1MPa for 24hours -To prevent dewing on the pipe insulation work should be done - Select proper size of insulation for each pipe 10/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Mounting 1) Installing the hanger bolt(or others like ladder tray ) Φ12.7 or less : 1.5m or less Φ15.88 or less : 2m or less * If the bolt distance is over 1.5~2m pipe might be sagged because of it’s weight 2) Insulating the pipe (Refer to Insulation work) - Keep the tape or cap end of each side 3) Hanging the pipe - Hang the pipe on the hanger or saddle support - Insert Insulation pad between pipe & hanger to prevent insulation being pressed Caution Install a hanger before and after the branch pipe 21/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Vertical Piping - Because of pipe weight there could be warped or sagging of the pipe. To prevent these problem Vertical pipe must be fixed with U shape Bolt (Circular band) & Down Stopper. 1. Fix the Vertical Pipe with U shape bolt or Circular band for each floor U shape bolt 2. If the pipe length is over 15m in vertical fix with Down Stopper every 15m Circular Band additionally Pipe Length Fixing Interval Remarks below 15m Fix a pipe every 5m(16.5ft) If there is a pit, fix a pipe at each floor Install a Down Stopper additionally Pipe must be fixed at every 5m regardless of down stopper Over 15m (every 3 floor or every 15m height) * How to install the Down Stopper Vertical Pipe Brazing torch Down Stopper Prepare the Down Stopper every 15m Attach the Down Stopper to pipe by brazing 22/141 Assembly Insulation This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Indoor unit - Branch Pipe Installation Sample Picture - When installing the branch pipe, pay attention to the following cautionary items * Remark Keep a minimum distance of 500mm or more before connecting a branch joint. (Incorrect installation of Y-joint and header joint cause poor oil and refrigerant distribution between indoor units) Main Pipe 500mm or more NG 23/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Indoor unit - Header Pipe Installation Select the reducer fitted on the diameter of the pipe ⑧ Braze ends of the pipes with caps which are not occupied ① Reducer * Connect the indoor unit as the larger capacity comes first Install the header joint horizontally. Incorrect installation of Y-joint and header joint cause poor oil and refrigerant distribution between indoor units. Refrigerant piping works Indoor unit - Refrigerant pipe connection 1. Purging the unit - Indoor unit is supplied with a pre-charge of nitrogen gas. (insert gas) - Purge the nitrogen gas before connect the refrigerant pipe 2. Connect the refrigerant pipe - A smaller one for the liquid refrigerant - A larger one for the gas refrigerant - The inside of copper pipe must be clean & has no dust 25/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Outdoor unit - Branch Pipe Installation Use the attached reducer properly according to the selected pipe size. * Branch pipe for Gas pipe and Liquid pipe have different shape <Liquid Pipe> <high pressure gas Pipe> <Gas Pipe> < Reducer Mounting> If the pipe is inserted deep into the reducer, it can cause refrigerant noises 26/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Outdoor unit - Pipe connection 1. Remove the cover from unit. 2. Separate the knock-out hole to use. If the hole is open, small animals such as squirrels and rats may get into the unit through the hole and the unit may be damaged. 3. Fix the pipe cover of bottom side and fix the pipe cover of upper side thereafter. Free piping & wiring directions 27/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Outdoor unit - Pipe connection Caution for connecting the pipe Use a flame proofing cloth to protect the unit from a welding fire or flame, otherwise the unit may get damaged by flame. Make sure not to damage the ambient temperature sensor located on the left side. Wrap the pipe before the service valve with a wet cloth and weld it as shown below. To prevent the O-ring and Teflon packing inside service valve damaged by a welding fire. The connecting pipes of liquid side and gas side should not contact each other. Vibration may cause a damage to the pipes 28/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Brazing - To prevent oxide while brazing, must carry out nitrogen replacement for oxygen free * Oxide may form inside the pipe. It can cause the damage of the compressor, valves etc. * Adjust the flow rate of the Nitrogen gas with a pressure regulator to maintain 0.05m 3/h or less.(0.02~0.05Mpa) OK Without Nitrogen blowing Filter clinginess Good Case Bad Case Nitrogen is not available to stay in the pipe 31/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Brazing - Make sure that there is no moisture inside the pipe. The stopper area of socket should be spread with welding material - Make sure that there are no foreign materials and impurities in the pipe. - Use Socket or Expending of pipe when brazing to connect pipes - Direction of the pipe when brazing : Performing the brazing of the pipe should be headed downward or horizontally 32/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Air Tight Test - Perform the air Tight Test to check leakage with Nitrogen gas * Pinching and Brazing end of each pipe → Connect Pressure Gage → Nitrogen gas pressurization → Check ◆ Test Pressure - R-410A : 38kgf/cm2 = 4.12Mpa = 594.6psi - R-22 : 28kgf/cm2 = 2.84Mpa Nitrogen pressurization 1. Maintains 4.1MPa for 24 hours. If no leakage, then pressure down to 1MPa. 2. If there is pressure drop then find leak point and 3. Maintain 1MPa(145psi) until connecting the outdoor/indoor units to prevent corrosion in the copper pipes. Maintain a pressure of 4.1MPa Mark on the gage(wait for 24hours) 33/141 Maintain a pressure of 1.0MPa This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Insulation work for pipe 1) Insulate the refrigerant pipe pipe by referring to the thickness of insulator for each pipe size. The standard condition is 30 °C & less than humidity 85%. Refrigerant piping works Insulation work for pipe - All the refrigerant pipe & Drainpipe should be insulated to prevent dewing on the pipe. Case 1 ①EPDM length should be longer then pipe length. Do not extend EPDM by force ②Put the pipe in EPDM insulation carefully so that the pipe will not get damaged with EPDM. ③Apply bond on both side of cut surface. Make sure to use the correct type of bond for EPDM ④Dry it until it becomes thick, sticky and does not get detached. Case 2 Use the original uncut insulation material. Only in special case is the vertical cutting of the insulation allowed. Apply bond both sides of the surface of EPDM and press them together for long lasting bonding. Dry it until it becomes thick and sticky. Case 3 Bring face to face the each end of EPDM on fitting connection part. Make fitting cover to fit the EPDM insulation. Fitting cover should be overlapped with insulation min 1inch(2.5m). 35/141 Bond the both cutting sides of fitting cover. This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Insulation work for pipe - Refrigerant pipe before EEV kit and MCU or without EEV kit and MCU You can contact the gas side and liquid side pipes but the pipes should not be pressed. When contacting the gas side and gas side pipe, use 1 grade thicker insulator. - Refrigerant pipe after EEV kit and MCU After EEV kit or MC, expensed refrigerant for cooling or hot gas for heating will flow through the refrigerant pipe. To prevent energy loss leave 10mm space between gas and liquid pipe. When contacting the gas side and liquid side pipe, use 1 grade thicker insulator. 36/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Refrigerant piping works Insulation work for Branch pipe 1) Attach the insulation provided with a branch joint 2) Wrap the connected part with an insulation (purchased in the market) of a thickness of at least 10mm. 3) Use an insulation that should be able to handle the interior temperature over 120°C. 4) Wrap the branch joint with an insulation of a thickness of at least 10mm. 37/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Insulation - Once you have checked that there are no leaks in the system, you can insulate the piping and hose. - To avoid condensation problems, place T13.0 or thicker Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber separately to Gas & Liquid pipe. - Wind insulating tape around the pipes and drain hose avoiding to compress the insulation too much. 38/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Pressure gauge can be burst because of high pressure. 2. Compressor failure - If you use R22 gauge, remaining oil inside can generate wax type material which definitely badly affect POE oil of R410A system, possibly clogging refrigerant passage or causing compressor failure 50/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 2. Drainpipe works Drainpipe Cutting & Insulation - Cut the drainpipe as its dimension and size are shown in the diagram (Use a special cutter for the PVC pipes) PVC Pipe Cutter Mark the length Cutting - Insulate the drainpipe that is cut (The drainpipe insulation materials should be non-flammable) Recommendation 1. Insulation thickness is 5~10T or more 2. Select the desirable insulation thickness according to the humidity/temperature of the ceiling. 56/141 This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 3. Drainpipe works Mounting the Drainpipes - Mount a horizontal pipe in the hanger.(Hanger distance should be 1.5m or less otherwise there could be sagging) - Perform 1/100 or more slope works on the horizontal pipe in the direction of the vertical pipe Connecting the Drainpipe - Use a T-joint to make connections between the horizontal pipe(main pipe) & branch pipe(sub pipe) (T-joint should be faced upward) - Wait 1~2mins till the PVC pipe are fixed (Do not bond Below -5℃, it can cause damage or delay of fixing time) PVC glue on the pipe PVC glue on the T-joint 57/141 Combine This Document can not be used without Samsung's authorization 3.
