Significant levels of funding from the Academy of Finland
24.06.2014
Aalto University was granted research funding worth over EUR 20 million.
The application round ended last September and funding decisions for the posts of Academy Professor, Academy Research Fellow, Postdoctoral Researcher,
as well as for FiDiPro projects and academy projects were published in April-June.
There are four Research Councils at the Academy of Finland. They each carry out the Academy's tasks within their respective field of expertise. The majority of
funding for Aalto University is granted by the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering. The School of Arts, Design and Architecture and the
School of Business usually apply for funding from the Research Council for Culture and Society. In addition, the Academy of Finland has a Research Council for
Biosciences and Environment and one for Health.
Paavo Alku as Academy Professor
Professor Paavo Alku from the Department of Signal Processing and Acoustics at the School of Electrical Engineering has been selected as an Academy
Professor for the term of 2015-2019. Alku is one of seven new Academy Professors.
