Community Garden
Green House
Cripple Creek Parks and
Recreation along with Steps to
a Healthier Teller County invite
community members to
participate in a unique new
twist on an old idea. We will be
opening the greenhouse in
Cripple Creek as a “community
garden.” The “plots” in the
garden will be raised boxes for
the sole intent of planting food
crops. Many plants can be
purchased as starter plants,
shortening the growing
“season”. There will also be
limited space available to grow
other plants, bedding flowers,
and hanging baskets. The
number of plots is limited and
will be filled on a first-come,
first-served basis following
June 4, 2007.
There will be two sizes of
plots available to rent. The
larger plots (4’x4’) will cost
$35; the smaller plots (2’x3’)
will cost $20. Individuals can
choose to rent a plot by
themselves or partner with
others to rent a plot and grow
several crops. As with any
community garden, you will be
responsible for the ongoing
maintenance of your plots.
