From big budget commercials with A-listers like
Pierce Brosnan to shoots with German stars like
Maximilian Schell, Till Schweiger and Mario Adorf,
Ekkehart has compiled an impressive body of work.
He got given the German Camera Award for ‘THE
DEAD DIVER IN THE WOODS’ and has also been
nominated and awarded for many commercials
and music videos.
When Ekkehart Pollack received the “Deutscher
Kamerapreis Köln 2000” (German Photography
Award Cologne 2000) the selection committee
stated that he was chosen because of his
appreciation of supporting the ironic art of
narrative. The consistent colour-dramaturgy
presents an optical parallel. The dynamic way of
shooting of ingenious arrangements of pictures
and the movements of the camera impressively
take advantage of the cinemascope format.
Apart from other movies he shot Pathology ,
produced by Lakeshore / Lions Gate, directed
by Marc Schölermann, and Gamer, directed by
Neveldine / Taylor, starring Gerald Butler, Michel C.
Hall and Amber Valetta..
He also works as a photographer and painter .
Ekkehart Pollack studied film and photography at
the College for Design in Darmstadt and finalised
with the Diploma/Master in Visual Communications.
To compliment these Diplomas he studied painting
at the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe. For many years
he took great interest and engagement in painting
and the medium film before he finally focused in
1990 primarily on film after his success with his first
feature film „Auge um Auge“. Ekkehart Pollack has 2
children and lives in Berlin.
