Planning Your Dream Holiday
HOW TO USE THIS BROCHURE
PERU
The first step in planning your trip has been successfully taken: you have decided to go to Mexico, Central America and or the Caribbean. What
comes next is easy, especially with this brochure. Our brochure is a source of inspiration to help you design your ideal holiday, featuring classic
itineraries to choose from. If you can not find what you are looking for, please contact us to create an itinerary based on your interests and budget.
ACCOMMODATION
COMPLETE SERVICE GUARANTEED
We book accommodation according to your preferences and budget
from 3 star to 5 star, including small boutique properties. We like to
use locally owned properties that stand out for their character and
location rather than international hotel chains, so that income derived
from tourism benefits the local community.
Central America and the Caribbean offer glamorous beachfront allinclusive resorts, restored mansions in colonial cities, eco-friendly jungle
lodges, charming B&Bs and cultural immersions by sharing a house in a
local community. You can choose to stay in simple yet homely properties
or luxurious haciendas, with options to match every taste and budget.
Every traveller’s needs are diverse and unique, so we make sure
everything is taken care of, from the very beginning to the end of
the trip. Any anxiety you may experience at first will disappear
as you ease into a hassle-free holiday. Forget about last minute
check- in and confirmations; we reconfirm all flights as well as
onward overland trips. We also provide emergency contacts and
will be able to assist you with any inconvenience that may arise.
After you book with us, you will receive detailed Pre-Departure
information. Our Pre-Departure Package includes:
Complete country information, a list of recommended books and
movies to watch before you go, a set of vouchers, a Hotel and
Operators List including emergency contacts, a Lonely Planet
Latin America Spanish Phrasebook, a full colour itinerary, list of
recommended restaurants, packing checklist and suitcase tags.
TOURING
Regardless of which touring option you choose, we ensure a level of
attention, safety and flexibility like no other operator. All tours and
transfers (shared or private) are provided in modern vehicles and are
led by expert local English-speaking guides.
Private Tours: The most exclusive and flexible way to get to know a
destination using our expert guides.
Shared Tours: Lower the cost of your trip and share your experiences
with travellers from all over the world.
Combined Tours: If you want the best of both worlds, some parts
of your trip can be enjoyed in private tours, and others can be
experienced in shared tours.
Small Group Tours: Travelling with your family, friends, or colleagues
as a small group is also an option. Create your own adventure: choose
your preferred tours, the amount of free time in each destination, and
even which meals to include. Another option is to go on a fully escorted
tour with Contours Collection Small Group Tours. Talk to us and we will
design the best itinerary to suit your needs.
Specialty Tours: Want to combine a particular interest with travel to
Latin America? Ask our expert consultants about the Special Interest
Tours Contours Travel has to offer!
WEATHER
Altitude, rather than latitude, governs climate in Central America.
Terrain ranges between sea level and 3000m, and temperature
can vary by as much as twenty degrees. The year is divided into
two seasons, rainy season from May to October and dry season
from November to April.
Yearly average temperatures in the region rarely change, with
daytime temperatures in the lowlands being the hottest, averaging
from 28 to 32°C. The coastal areas or the low inland plains are
where you will feel the heat the most. In the mountains the weather
can be cooler and fresh, with temperatures more like 22 to 25°C.
Hurricane Season runs from June through November, with
September and October being the peak months. Many people shy
away from the Caribbean during this season, but if you're willing to
take the risk, you can save a lot on accommodation and experience
a quieter vacation because there are fewer tourists around.

NICARAGUA
Arenal Volcano National Park
This area’s main attraction is the active Arenal Volcano, with a consistent
lava flow since 1968. Venture along forest trails and lava fields from
previous eruptions. While exploring the park, you might even spot
deer, tapir, monkeys, birds, ferns and bromeliads.
Tortuguero National Park
One of the wettest areas in the country, this coastal park is a crucial
habitat for the green sea turtle, and most visitors come to watch them
lay eggs on the beaches. You can see more than just sea turtles though:
sloths in the treetops, tiny frogs, green iguanas and endangered
manatees swimming in the waterways connecting a series of lagoons
and rivers.
Surf
With hundreds of beaches to choose from along the Pacific coast, Costa
Rica is the ultimate surfing destination. Surfers have historically flocked
to Costa Rica searching for the perfect wave. Popular spots include
Playa Hermosa, Dominical and Tamarindo, with lessons available at
almost every town.
Manuel Antonio National Park
The smallest national park in the country, Manuel Antonio still holds its
own with its white sandy beaches, luscious rainforest and unforgettable
views across the bay. Enjoy walking through the park’s clearly marked
trails and take a dip in the sparkling blue waters. Watch out for those
cute but cheeky monkeys!
Coffee
Costa Rica is famous for having delicious coffee; its production has
played a key social and economic role in the country. Magnificent
plantation mansions are packed with history, and offer visits to the
coffee fields, roasters, and cafes. Sip on the region’s freshest brew
while strolling through the fields in the highlands.

Highlights of Cuba
Old Havana
Culture (old cars, music)
UNESCO World Heritage listed, Old Havana
is one of Caribbean’s largest and most
vibrant cities; a true a monument to Spanish
colonialism. The crumbling facades of once
grand colonial mansions line the streets;
vintage Chevies, Buicks and Cadillacs jostle
for position along the emblematic Malecon
avenue. In 1827, this region harvested the
biggest cane haul in the world, creating an
enormous wealth that packed the town with
the finest Spanish mansions, plazas and
churches.
Cuba is a magical country that takes you
back in time. Music emanates from every
doorway, while vintage cars take you for
a spin around downtown’s restless streets.
Homestays show you the insights of daily life
for the Cuban people; experience the cigar
and rum traditions while listening to stories
of the great communist revolution. Theatre,
Ballet, dance, baseball, street buskers, history,
and architecture combine in what has become
the way of life of the Cuban people in the
21st century.

functions as a museum and shrine, filled with
history, anecdotes and details on the life of
Jamaica’s best known artist.

Swimming in the Blue Lagoon
Locals in Port Antonio say the Blue Lagoon
is bottomless. Swim in these mystical azure
waters which change colour dramatically
as light, shadows and reflections from the
surrounding forested cliffs, vary throughout
the day. Fed by several underground
streams, its waters are a refreshing mixture
of warm tidal waves and cool freshwater
currents. Exploring the lagoons depths is a

Pig Beach
White sand, crystal clear water, luscious forests, and pigs! Pig Beach (officially
Big Major Cay), is an uninhabited island in Bahamas that is home to numerous
pigs and piglets.
This random ecosystem came to be many years ago, when passing sailors left
some pigs behind on the island, believing they would make a good food source
when they returned. Lucky porkers, they never did.
Today, you can visit this idyllic island and swim alongside the friendly animals.
Or find them frolicking on the beach, until they spot an oncoming yacht. That’s
when they charge into the water, hoping to receive food from the visitors.

CAYMAN ISLANDS
The smallest island in the world ever to be
partitioned between two different nations, it
has been shared by the French and the Dutch
in neighbourly friendship for over 350 years.
You will find a wide choice of breathtakingly
beautiful beaches and bays, some of them
popular and lively, others quiet and secluded.
Some can only be reached by boat.
An island of stunning natural beauty, St
