Camp Sunshine reaches out to children
with cancer and their families throughout
the entire year. The year’s statistics tell
a compelling story of success.
In 2013, Camp Sunshine:
ᔢ Provided 130 programs delivered over 140 days with more
than 6,200 participants.
ᔢ Introduced 254 new families to Camp Sunshine programs.
ᔢ Enriched the lives of 385 children and 236 volunteers,
providing a lifetime of memories over two weeks of
summer camp.
ᔢ Gained immeasurably from the priceless commitment of
more than 1,200 total volunteers throughout the year.
ᔢ Celebrated the 10th anniversary of Camp Sunshine House
on Clairmont Road.
ᔢ Benefited from the purpose-driven efforts of leaders truly
leading. Our Board members set an impressive giving
pace in 2013 with 100 percent of members contributing
financially to Camp Sunshine.
ᔢ Generated revenues of $2,355,736.
ᔢ Produced positive net income of $692,853, enabling us
to bolster our financial reserves.
ᔢ Stepped up connections via social media and other
technologies, including a monthly email update to 1,800
friends and supporters in addition to our thrice yearly
Postcards to 17,000 recipients. In 2013, Camp Sunshine
numbered approximately 3,828 Facebook fans and 834
followers on Twitter. Additionally, camp experienced an
over 300% increase in the number of people viewing
information posted through social media.
ᔢ Made more than 1,000 contacts through our Sunshine 2 U
hospital-based programming.
ᔢ Fortified our leadership building and nurturing with 30
percent of our camp volunteers being former campers
and childhood cancer survivors.
ᔢ Assumed active leadership roles among our staff in
professional organizations, including Children’s Oncology
Camping Association, International and American Camp
Association.
