India Seafood 2015
2015 Norwegian seafood in India Conquer the large Indian seafood market India has the world’s second largest population. Out of the 1.3 billion market, 300 million consists of the Indian middle class. Conservatively estimating, therefore we believe that the market for Norwegian seafood will exceed 35 million consumers with high spending power. For these consumers, price will not be the decisive factor, but rather their wish to eat healthy, exclusive and high quality seafood. How to succeed in the Indian market? The emerging production technologies, higher economic growth, population explosion and shifts in dietary pattern are the driving force for rapid growth in the demand for food of animal origin. The consumption of fish in India has grown faster than that of any other animal product. Metro and Walmart are now in the process of entering the Indian market. The Indian consumer: from mustard fish to Salmon? Interesting exhibitions and fairs: Indians have a different taste preference to seafood compared to Norwegians. However, development of good recipes will attract the Indian consumer to the fantastic high quality seafood.
