About the
Ford Mobility Motoring Program
The Ford Mobility Motoring Program provides up to $1,000 toward
the cost of adaptive equipment (or up to $200 for an alert hearing
device, lumbar support, or running boards). These reimbursements
are available for all new 2006, 2007, or 2008 Ford, Lincoln, or
Mercury vehicles (through F-550) purchased or leased from a U.S.
Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer during the program period.
Introduction
Ford Motor Company assists people with
physical disabilities in meeting their
personal transportation needs through
its Mobility Motoring Program. In this
resource guide, you will find a broad range
of information valuable to people with
disabilities who need assistance in achieving
automotive mobility – and a sense of
independence and confidence.

There are many Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles that can
be adapted to meet the requirements of people with physical
disabilities. The Ford Mobility Motoring Program provides
a straightforward process for selecting and adding adaptive
equipment to a new Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicle.
Ford Mobility Motoring Rules
• Maximum reimbursement per vehicle is $1,000.
• The offer is valid from September 1, 2006 through August 31, 2007. Your Ford and
Lincoln Mercury dealer has complete program details.
• New vehicles acquired from a U.S. Ford Authorized Pool Converter are also eligible for
the program.
• Initiation of the adaptation must take place within 12 months of the dealer-reported
date of sale or lease, and be claimed within 12 months of that date. Proof will be
required.
• Used units – including those previously in rental service, lease service, or repurchased
vehicles by Ford Motor Company that are available for resale – are not eligible.
• Options available for factory installation, such as air conditioning, running boards,
lumbar support, and power windows are not considered eligible under the terms of the
program.
• Adaptive equipment is defined as devices that make it easier for people with disabilities
to drive or be transported in a vehicle. Equipment without clear definition of need,
such as alert hearing devices, swivel seats, pedal extensions, lumbar support, and
running boards, will require original documentation, detailing the permanent medical
impairment and the need for such equipment, prepared by a certified medical or
medical-related professional.
• The information provided by Ford Motor Company here and in the state directories is
for assistance only and no endorsement is intended. You should verify information
and obtain complete references of assessment centers and installers before service or
installation is rendered.

Driving Independence
Taking charge of your mobility can lead to
an independent and confident attitude.
That is why Ford Motor Company provides
quality vehicles that can meet your
adaptive equipment and driving needs.
You can be confident that your new Ford,
Lincoln, or Mercury vehicle can take you
where you want to go.
Four Steps to Begin Your
Motoring Independence
1 Assess Your Driving Needs
Obtain a driver’s evaluation from a Driver Assessment Center.
This process will ensure that modifications and equipment are
appropriate for your individual driving skills. A comprehensive
evaluation may include:
• Sensory motor functions
• Cognitive processing
• General knowledge
• On-road performance evaluation in an appropriately
modified vehicle
Assessment centers can write “prescriptions” for required adaptive
equipment. A prescription can also help assure that the equipment
installed is eligible for Ford Mobility Motoring assistance. Many
centers offer adaptive equipment training, and all provide useful
information concerning mobility transportation needs.
4
2 Know Your State Driving Laws
Contact your state motor vehicle agency to learn about
requirements for driving with adaptive equipment. State licensing
laws vary considerably. Most states require special training before
issuing a driver’s license for drivers of vehicles with adaptive
equipment. Some states also require that changes in physical
condition, which may affect driving, be reported. As with any driver,
failure to comply with state licensing laws can threaten your driving
privileges.
3 Gather Adaptive
Equipment
Information
Find a mobility equipment
dealer who is experienced
and qualified to make a
well suited equipment fit
for your vehicle before
purchasing.
4 Visit Your Ford or Lincoln Mercury Dealer
Select a Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicle that can be adapted to
serve your mobility needs. Some common questions dealers ask in
order to better serve your driving needs include:
• What type of driving is mostly done? (i.e. city, highway, or a
combination?)
• What is the length of trips taken?
(i.e. long or short trips?)
• What are the needs of family and friends?
• What is the required amount of space for the adaptive equipment?
• What additional cargo will be carried?

Frequently Asked Questions
adaptive equipment or up to
$200 on alert hearing devices,
lumbar support, and running
boards. Total reimbursement is
not to exceed $1,000.
What is the time period of the Ford
Mobility Motoring Program and
which vehicles are eligible?
The current program is in effect
from September 1, 2006 through
August 31, 2007, and includes all
new 2006, 2007 and 2008 Ford,
Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles
purchased or leased from a U.S.
Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer.
What adaptive equipment qualifies
for the financial assistance?
Adaptive equipment is defined
as any installed device that
makes it easier for people
with disabilities to drive or
be transported in a vehicle.
Equipment that can be factory
installed, or is considered a
factory option by Ford, is not
eligible. Equipment which
is not clearly related to a
specific medical need, such as
alerting devices, swivel seats,
pedal extensions, and running
boards, will require original
medical documentation clearly
detailing the physical disability
or permanent impairment
for which the equipment is
intended. This documentation
must be prepared by a licensed,
certified medical or medicalrelated professional.
How soon after I purchase or
lease my new vehicle do I have to
complete the adaptive equipment
installation?
You have 12 months from the
date of purchase or lease to
initiate the adaptive work and
one year from that date to
process your claim.
How do I receive my Ford Mobility
Motoring financial assistance?
When the adaptive equipment
installation has been completed
on your new vehicle, the
adaptive equipment dealer
will take the paid adaptive
equipment invoice to the Ford
or Lincoln Mercury dealer
where you purchased or leased
your new vehicle. You will
receive a check mailed to you
directly from Ford for up to
$1,000 toward the cost of your
6
M ICH IGAN
Does newly purchased used
adaptive equipment qualify?
Yes. As long as you have a paid
receipt, newly purchased used
equipment acquired for your
installation will qualify for
assistance.
May I go to any adaptive equipment
installer or must I go to someone on
your Information Kit listing?
You may take your vehicle
to the adaptive equipment
installer of your choice. The list
provided in the Information Kit
is for assistance and reference
only and no endorsement is
intended. You should verify
information, check with adaptive
equipment manufacturers, and
obtain complete references of
centers and installers before any
services are rendered.
Can the Ford Mobility Motoring
financial assistance be used in
combination with other incentives
or rebates?
Yes. The Ford Mobility Motoring
financial assistance may be
combined with all other public
and private offers, except for
the “Commercial Connection
Program,” in effect at the time
of purchase or lease.
Is it necessary for me to visit an
assessment center before I qualify for
Ford Mobility Motoring assistance?
No. If you already have equipment
you’re going to transfer, or you
know what equipment you need,
it is not necessary for you to have
an evaluation at an assessment
center. However, it could be
beneficial to have an evaluation
every four years.
Are Ford Mobility Motoring benefits
available if I purchase or lease a
new vehicle under the Ford A-, X-,
or Z-Plans?
Yes. A-, X-, and Z-Plan vehicles
are eligible as long as they
otherwise meet plan provisions.
May I use the financial assistance
toward the purchase or lease of my
vehicle?
No. Reimbursement can only
happen after you have supplied
your Ford or Lincoln Mercury
dealer with the paid invoice
for your adaptive equipment
installation.
